A fatal vehicle collision involving a suspect in a stolen vehicle and a complainant following him is under investigation by the Southern Alberta RCMP Major Crime Unit and Three Hills RCMP.

On Sunday, August 14 at 11:30 pm RCMP were alerted to a suspicious Dodge Dakota near Delburne. The vehicle was driven onto a rural property where it became stuck, and the driver then took a Ford F150 from the property.

The complainant who initially alerted RCMP followed both stolen vehicles from the Delburne area to Highway 42 and Range Road 240, near Pine Like, where the two vehicles collided, fatally injur- ing the driver of the stolen Ford after the vehicle rolled over. He was transported by STARS Air Ambulance to a hospital in Calgary where he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead. The complainant was not injured.

The RCMP Collision Analyst attended the collision and is investigating the cause, with Southern Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit maintaining the investigation with the help of Three Hills RCMP.

A press release states the incident is still under investigation and there will be no further information made available.

Officials request those with information about the investigation to contact Three Hills RCMP or their local detachment.
