Big Val­ley has taken up the chal­lenge and is tak­ing part in the Pink­est Lit­tle Town in the West Con­test in sup­port of breast can­cer re­search. The vil­lage res­i­dents and busi­nesses have been busy “pink­ing up” and fundrais­ing for a while now. At the Fire­man’s Ball Tour­na­ment ear­lier this month, a to­tal of $700 was raised for the cause with their “Pink Le­mon­ade” stand. With var­i­ous events, in­clud­ing the Wild Pink Yon­der ride, sched­uled around the vil­lage this week, we hope every­one will ‘Think Pink’ and come out and join us.

Al­berta Prairie’s Teddy Bear Spe­cial will be in Big Val­ley on Thurs­day, Aug. 25 from 12:40 p.m. un­til 3:00 p.m. Chil­dren 10 and un­der, ac­com­pa­nied by an adult and a teddy bear ride for free. Chil­dren are in­vited to join in a teddy bear prom- enade just be­fore de­par­ture on the re­turn trip. There will be clowns and ma­gi­cians on board the train to en­ter­tain the kids. Every­one is in­vited to come out and en­joy the Vil­lage and welcome the Train as it ar­rives decked out in its pink fin­ery to raise money for Breast Can­cer.

The Big Val­ley Li­brary is host­ing the “Pink­est Lit­tle Car­ni­val” in con­junc­tion with the Pink­est Lit­tle Town Con­test and the Teddy Bear Spe­cial on Thurs­day, Aug. 25 from 12:00 noon un­til 3:00 p.m. You will find the car­ni­val tent set up on the green across from McAlis­ter’s Mu­seum. All chil­dren are in­vited to come and join in the fun car­ni­val games, treats and prizes.

The Big Val­ley Art Club will be host­ing the Wild Pink Yon­der Ride for Breast Can­cer break­fast and fundraiser on Fri­day, Aug. 26 from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at the Big Val­ley Arena. Every­one is welcome.

Come check out the grand re-open­ing of the Big Val­ley Am­phithe­atre this week­end! Big Val­ley is host­ing an out­door con­cert with “Me & the Mrs.” at our Am­phithe­atre on Rail­way Av­enue on Satur­day, Aug. 27 be­gin­ning at 7:00 p.m. In case of inclement weather, the Drop-In Cen­tre is the backup venue. There are posters up around town and also in sur­round­ing mu­nic­i­pal­i­ties invit­ing folks to come and join us for an evening’s good en­ter­tain­ment. Tick­ets are avail­able at the Vil­lage Of­fice, Granny’s Fudge Fac­tory, All That Buzz, Outrid­ers’ Inn, and the ATB. Come out and en­joy the evening of Au­gust 27 with us. Bring your own cush­ion, maybe a blan­ket and some bug spray.
