What an amazing Olympics for our athletes in Rio! They proved to the world we have the talent and the heart to win medals and are humble when being interviewed about wins. Not like some, but the joy does explode at times. It’s a shame that the USA had such a stupid performance by Mr. Lochte. What an embarrassment. It’s so much easier to tell the truth and take your lumps like a man!

If you have the need of a tow-truck and are short like me, ask them to bring a step stool for you so you can get in the cab. Last week I had the difficult situation arise for me... the running board was half way to my waist and one of my arms doesn’t go above my head and there wasn’t much to grab hold of. The result was a small “circus” performance and entertainment for the passing motorists. The situation was finally solved and then it was done in reverse at the garage. I think I have a solution so I am writing AMA with my suggestion.

The crops are certainly ripening quickly but the farmers are not too sure about how dry the fields are. There appears to be some real bumper crops around the country.

Early on Monday morning that was quite the gale force wind that blew in. It didn’t last too long, thank goodness as that would really do a lot of damage to crops if it was out in the country. Mother Nature seems to be very annoyed this year and keeps sending us wet messages which were nice earlier in the season, but enough is enough.

Some Orkney folks have been holidaying at different times but I believe they are all back now getting ready for school and harvest. Perhaps there aren’t any school age kids in the district anymore that go to Three Hills on the bus. How times change!

Have a good week and do something nice for your neighbour such as a phone call to say, “Hi!” and “How are you?”
