Man fined for marijuana possession Cocaine, meth seized by RCMP at Hanna residence
A Drumheller man was fined $4,000 after RCMP discovered a sizable amount of marijuana following a traffic stop.
Pat Parsons appeared in provincial court in Drumheller on Friday, August 26. He pleaded guilty to simple possession.
The court heard how on December 23, 2015, he was pulled over into the Canadian Tire parking lot for a seatbelt infraction. The officer detected a strong scent of fresh marijuana, and also saw a marijuana pipe in plain view. Parson produced 107 grams of marijuana. It was indicated in court that he used it for pain management.
He was fined $4,000 and is to abide by a three-month conditional sentence order.
Undisclosed amounts of cocaine, methamphetamine, marijuana, and money were seized by Hanna RCMP through a search warrant for a residence on Friday, August 26.
With the assistance of Police Dog Services, Hanna RCMP arrested and charged Jean Bogdan Niculescu, 33, and Lora Lea Hewko, 32, both of Hanna, with possession and possession for the purpose of trafficking both cocaine and methamphetamine, possession of marijuana, and possession of proceeds of crime. Both Niculescu and Hewko appeared before a Justice of the Peace and were released to attend Provincial Court in Hanna on September 28.
