I hope every­one had a won­der­ful Labour Day and en­joyed the last long week­end of the sum­mer.

The Rock­y­ford Mi­nor Hockey/Ringette As­so­ci­a­tion AGM will take place on Thurs­day, Septem­ber 15 at the arena at 7 p.m. Please go to www.rmhra.com and reg­is­ter your child for this sea­son’s hockey or ringette teams. If you need fur­ther in­for­ma­tion, please give Tracy a call at 533-3930.

Birth­day greet­ings to those of you cel­e­brat­ing this week are sent to; Wil­liam Sharp­ley, Colin Melcher, Matt Den Boer and Joely Dahm. Happy An­niver­sary to; David and Pe­tra Sharp­ley and to any­one else cel­e­brat­ing a spe­cial oc­ca­sion this week.

Fit­ness classes are be­ing of­fered at the Rock­y­ford Fit­ness Room (lo­cated in the Com­mu­nity Cen­ter). Classes are led by Tris­tan Des­met (fit­ness in­struc­tor, per­sonal trainer and CPR cer­ti­fied). This is a light to mod­er­ate work­out of car­dio and weight train­ing. Classes will run on Thurs­day morn­ings at 10 a.m. for 8 weeks start­ing Oc­to­ber 13. Please reg­is­ter by call­ing ei­ther Cathy 403-533-3860 or Frances 403-934-4343.

Holis­tic Yoga is also be­ing of­fered with Gina Champigny on Mon­day evenings from 5:30 p.m. to 6:45 p.m. start­ing Oc­to­ber 17 to De­cem­ber 12 (8 weeks).To reg­is­ter, please call Cathy 533-3860 or Frances 934-4343.

The Pho­tog­ra­phy Club re­turns on Wed­nes­day, Septem­ber 7, at 6:30 p.m. This small, friendly group meets ev­ery month at the Rock­y­ford Li­brary to share and dis­cuss pho­tos, tech­niques, and chat with other like-minded pho­tog­ra­phers. Free to at­tend, and please bring pho­tos on a USB stick if you wish to show them.

Uniden­ti­fied Fin­ished Ob­jects (UFOs) is back on Tues­day af­ter­noons from 1 – 3 p.m. be­gin­ning Tues­day, Septem­ber 13. If you have a pas­sion for a hobby or craft ( knit­ting/ scrap­book­ing/ colour­ing…) that’s portable, why not join us?

Only 3 spots left for the Im­prove Your Mem­oir and Fic­tion Writ­ing work­shops. This 4-ses­sion work­shop runs ev­ery sec­ond Satur­day from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. The open­ing ses­sion on Septem­ber 17 ex­plores char­ac­ters; Oc­to­ber 1 is set­ting and lan­guage; Oc­to­ber 15 is plot­ting, pac­ing, and plan­ning; and Oc­to­ber 29 is ty­ing it to­gether. Par­tic­i­pants 12+ are in­vited to at­tend this free work­shop and can reg­is­ter by con­tact­ing Rock­y­ford Li­brary (rock­y­fordli­brary.ca).

Fall is here, and Rock­y­ford Li­brary’s Moms ‘ N’ Tots pro­gram re­turns ev­ery Tues­day from 10 – 11:30 a.m.

Par­ent Link will also be pre­sent­ing Play & Learn ac­tiv­ity ses­sions for 6 con­sec­u­tive weeks start­ing Tues­day, Septem­ber 20. Chil­dren will sing songs, read, and play in the in­ter­ac­tive ses­sions from 9:45 – 11:15 a.m. Free to at­tend!

Writ­ers’ Boot­camp is here! Join us on Satur­day, Septem­ber 24 for two free ses­sions: The morn­ing ses­sion, 10 a.m. – 12 p.m., ex­plores ev­ery­thing you need to know about the pub­lish­ing world. The af­ter­noon ses­sion, 2 – 4 p.m., reme­dies ways to over­come the dreaded “mushy mid­dle” of your novel. Both work­shops are in­tended for begin­ner and in­ter­me­di­ate writ­ers who are look­ing to raise their writ­ing skills to the next level. Pre­sented via video con­fer­ence by writer and speaker Ron­nie Roberts, in con­junc­tion with the RiSE net­work.
