Hand Hills Grapevine
Hello Hand Hills…the weather is still really unpredictable but we are still waiting for that Indian Summer. The weather for the rest of this week is supposed to be in the 20’s so here is hoping. Combines will be going full tilt to get in the huge harvest, truckers will be revving up to haul the bales and hopefully we can finish haying. Here’s hoping.
They were hoping for a boy and a boy they did get. Cori and Kirby Black have welcomed Skyes Caul to their family. This is another grandchild for Larry and Rosemary Rosin. The count is now two grandsons and 10 granddaughters. This is also another Great Grandson for Ed and Carol Vogstad. Congratulations to all.
Welcome to the Grandmother Club Jean Lamson. Son Aaron and wife Danielle had a baby girl that Jean can now spoil. Congratulations.
Also entering that grandparent stage is Darlene and Keith McDonald, from over Roselynn way. Joel and Shannon welcomed a baby girl just this past week. This baby girl won the lottery when it comes to grandparents. Congratulations to the McDonalds’
Sympathy from the Hand Hills community is going to Melissa Rosin and her family on the passing of her grandfather Otto Hoff. He was a great man that will be missed. We had the pleasure of dealing with Otto on a few horse trailer deals and he was a true business man. Keep his memory close and he will always be close.
They did it again. The Shiloh Cattle Company won big in Armstrong, B.C. at the cattle show. Alisha Minchau deserves the recognition this time as she won Grand Champion Female in the all breeds junior show and she received the RBC scholarship and junior ambassador buckle. Anyone that knows Alisha know that she is dedicated and is so deserving of these awards! I foresee more awards in the future for this cattle gal!
Delia is going to be the home of the new and improved Highland Market. I for one can’t wait to shop there. What an asset to the community. To all those involved pat yourself on your back for this community effort. Opening soon!
The Delia Fall Fair is coming up in a month or so. Plan to participate. This venue is part of the reason that the arena and such are open and running in Delia. Like the store and Lukes’, imagine Delia without the arena or the curling rink and that thought should makes one want to support every effort. See you at the fair!
The Donna Griffith Memorial Family Rodeo is coming up this Saturday, the 17. There are 200 contestants so you can enjoy a lot of rodeo action from Mites up to the Adults. There will be the famous Stick Horse Race, Mutton Busting, Barrels, Poles, Goats, Roping and the revival of the Hide Race and the Relay Race. Come spend the day in the Hills, help us remember a great lady who loved rodeo and cheer on the contestants. It all starts at 10 a.m. There is a booth on the grounds and the day will wind up with a bonfire. See you in the Hills!
The Hand Hills Turkey Supper is coming soon. Mark Sunday, October 23 on your calendar!
Are you interested in a craft weekend? Plans are in the works for a two day craft get together for October 1 and 2. I will keep you posted. If you are interested please phone me. Let’s take the time!
Till next week…come enjoy the Rodeo!
