Com­mu­nity groups come to­gether for Bad­lands Youth En­gage­ment Sum­mit

Young peo­ple in Drumheller are com­ing to­gether this week to dis­cuss com­mu­nity en­gage­ment.

This Thurs­day, Septem­ber 22, Fam­ily and Com­mu­nity Sup­port Ser­vices (FCSS) will be hold­ing a Youth En­gage­ment Sum­mit at the Bad­lands Com­mu­nity Fa­cil­ity. The Sum­mit will be a round ta­ble event with groups in­volved in youth en­gage­ment in Drumheller and area as well as Stu­dent Coun­cil rep­re­sen­ta­tives.

“We will be dis­cussing the many projects and events that are planned and op­por­tu­ni­ties for col­lab­o­ra­tion”, stated April Har­ri­son FCSS co­or­di­na­tor. “We will also dis­cuss gaps in youth pro­vi­sion, shar­ing ideas for the de­vel­op­ment of a col­lab­o­ra­tive vi­sion for youth en­gage­ment over the next 3-5 years”.

Paul Sal­va­tore, Direc­tor of Com­mu­nity Ser­vices, ex­pressed that he was ex­cited about the range of at­ten­dees. They in­clude stu­dent coun­cil rep­re­sen­ta­tives as well as ca­reer fo­cused or­ga­ni­za­tions such as MH En­ter­prises, Com­mu­nity Corrections/Pro­ba­tion Ser­vice, Girl Guides, and var­i­ous other groups.
