On Tues­day morn­ing the mem­bers of the Drop In Cen­tre, and guests, were treated to a pre­sen­ta­tion by Al­berta Gov­ern­ment Sup­port Ser­vices on El­der Abuse. Pre­sen­ters were Roxie Goldie, Peggy Bar­rone and Diana Rowe, Star­land Com­mu­nity Ser­vices Direc­tor. This was an in­for­ma­tive ses­sion on aware­ness of dif­fer­ent forms of abuse and what to watch for and how to re­act if abuse is sus­pected. The door prize for the day was won by Doreen McNair. We will have a pre­sen­ta­tion on gov­ern­ment fi­nan­cial as­sis­tance in Oc­to­ber.

The Septem­ber Birth­day Party at the Delia Drop In Cen­tre was held on Wednes- day af­ter­noon, with Elsie as host­ess in place of Pat and Eleanor. Eight mem­bers were present for a fun af­ter­noon of vis­it­ing and cards. Elsie called bingo and sev­eral nice prizes were won by every­one. A de­li­cious lunch of an­gel food with straw­ber­ries and whipped cream was served for lunch, which every­one en­joyed. The door prize, an au­tumn themed cen­ter­piece, was won by Joan Mor­ri­son.

Pot Luck was held at the Cen­tre on Thurs­day af­ter­noon with a movie that fol­lowed.

Good news for res­i­dents of Delia, our new store, the High­land Mar­ket, is sched­uled to open this week, some­thing we have all been wait­ing for. Best wishes from the Com­mu­nity, every­one is wish­ing a most suc­cess­ful jour­ney for this store and all those in­volved who in­vested in our com­mu­nity!

The An­nual Fall Fair is quickly com­ing up on Oc­to­ber 15 at the Delia Arena. While you are vis­it­ing and see­ing all the Fair has to of­fer, you don’t want to miss the “Fine Art Photography Art Show and Sale” spon­sored by the Delia His­tor­i­cal So­ci­ety, at the “His­toric St. Pa­trick’s Church.” We are show­cas­ing the work of lo­cal pho­tog­ra­phers from Delia, Craigmyle, Hanna, Hand­hills and Drumheller. Hope you will mark this on your cal­en­dars.

It’s Leapfrog and Tad­pole Preschool Story Time at the Delia Li­brary on Tues­days Sept. 20 and 27, at 11:15 To 12 noon. Free pro­gram but child must be ac­com­pa­nied by an adult. Preschool story time cel­e­brates the joys of lan­guage and story through the use of mu­sic, pup­pets, pic­ture books, sto­ry­telling and more.

Delia and other ar­eas are wel­come to the Free pro­gram in Mor­rin “Stay and Play”! This is a pro­gram for par­ents or care­givers with chil­dren 0 to 6 years of age. It is go­ing to be held on Thurs­day 10 to 11:30 am in the United Church in Mor­rin, from Septem­ber 29 to Oc­to­ber 27, and Novem­ber 17 to De­cem­ber 8. Happy be­lated birth­day to Me­lanie Dwarika on Septem­ber 18, Edith Hamelin has her birth­day on the 20th, and Josh Rem­fert is a year older on the 27th of Septem­ber. En­joy your spe­cial day.
