Morrin Community Calendar
Good morning to you...good morning to you...we’re all in our places with bright shining faces! Thought I would start things off with a little kindergarten ditty from days gone by. And looking out at the sky as I write this Monday morning, it seems to be a calm, slightly cloudy day with some blue sky peeking through. I sure hope it warms up quick and turns out to be a harvesting kind of day and week for all the hardworking farm families.
So, last week I attended the monthly Village of Morrin Council meeting, and I have nothing out of the ordinary to report, bills are all paid and there are no council concerns. The water/sewer line replacement work on First Avenue North being done by Grayson construction got off to a bit of a slow start but is progressing as expected. It is a steady but tedious job. They are only able to do one side of the street at a time because there is a limited area to pile the dirt as they dig, but...it is coming along and will soon be another completed section. Another tidbit I learned at the council meeting is that the Village of Morrin provides an annual scholarship to a deserving student at the Morrin School. This year the ceremony to deliver all the awards celebrating academic improvement, leadership, athleticism and career preparation is set for 7:00 p.m. on Friday, October 21 in the Morrin School Gymnasium.
And another important piece of news previously mentioned is that the 4H MultiClub is getting revved up and ready to kick off their season. The first meeting for volunteer leaders and members will be held on Monday, October 3 at 7:00 p.m. at the Morrin School. It’s a great club and with adult/ parental supervision is a wonderful opportunity for young minds to pursue interests in the areas of equine, canine, band, small engines, photography and possibly archery.
Also, I wanted to remind everyone that the 55 plus group cribbage/games afternoon started up last Thursday at 1:30 p.m. at the Morrin Arena Blooming Prairies Drop-In Center and sounds like they had a good bunch that came out to visit and play and enjoy coffee and snacks together. Newcomers are always welcome and the senior social event will be a go every second Thursday afternoon.
And the Morrin Community Hall Association has some fun fall activities lined up and I will post events and times and dates some time in October. So that’s it...God bless the Toronto Blue Jays, the strong conservative efforts of Donald Trump and the farmers! “Bringing in the sheaves”... cheers!
