The Big Val­ley United Church will be host­ing their an­nual Fall Turkey Sup­per on Sun­day, Oct. 16 from 4:30 to 7:00 p.m. at the Big Val­ley Com­mu­nity Hall. Come on out and join them for a scrump­tious turkey din­ner with all the trim­mings and of course some great com­mu­nity fel­low­ship.

The Big Val­ley Drop In Cen­tre’s first com­mu­nity pan­cake sup­per of the sea­son will be on Monday, Oct. 24 be­gin­ning at 5:30 p.m. Events at the Drop In Cen­tre in­clude crib at 1:30 p.m. ev­ery Sun­day; Monday and Fri­day night cards at 7:00 p.m. and floor curl­ing ev­ery Thurs­day af­ter­noon at 1:00 p.m. Don’t for­get to mark your cal­en­dars for the an­nual Flu Clinic on Wed­nes­day, Nov. 2 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Big Val­ley’s Hall Board Bingo is back. Come join the fun ev­ery Thurs­day, at the Com­mu­nity Hall. Warm up is at 7:30 p.m.

The Big Val­ley Inn weekly Crib Tour­na­ments be­gin on Sun­day, Oct. 16 at 1:00 p.m. Crib is open to any­one over 18 who would like to spend a Sun­day af­ter­noon play­ing cards and vis­it­ing with friends.

Big Val­ley Li­brary’s fall pro­gram­ming sea­son has be­gun. Re­turn­ing monthly pro­grams in­clude Sit’n Stitch, tak­ing place on the sec­ond Satur­day of the month, and the Big Val­ley Book Club meet­ing on the last Fri­day of each month. The Paint­ing Group will con­tinue to meet at the Train Sta­tion ev­ery Wed­nes­day from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and the Ukulele Club now also meets at the Train Sta­tion ev­ery Monday. Ad­di­tional pro­gram­ming events will be an­nounced as they are de­vel­oped.

Don’t for­get to book your ta­ble for the an­nual Big Val­ley Christ­mas Craft Show and Sale. This pop­u­lar event is slated for Satur­day, Nov. 17 at the Big Val­ley Com­mu­nity Hall. For more in­for­ma­tion or to book a ta­ble please call Andrea at 403-8762064.

The last reg­u­lar train of this tourist sea­son will be on Satur­day, Oc­to­ber 8 and then the Mu­se­ums will be closed for the win­ter. There is a list of vol­un­teers on McAlis­ter’s Mu­seum win­dow who will open up the mu­se­ums for vis­i­tors dur­ing nor­mal hours.

Over the win­ter the His­tor­i­cal So­ci­ety will be busy with more tools for the tool mu­seum as well as re­mod­el­ing the north rail bag­gage car to hold more his­tor­i­cal ar­ti­facts. They are also plan­ning a cen­ten­nial cel­e­bra­tion for St. Edmunds (Blue Church) Angli­can Church for the Spring of 2017.
