The Big Valley United Church will be hosting their annual Fall Turkey Supper on Sunday, Oct. 16 from 4:30 to 7:00 p.m. at the Big Valley Community Hall. Come on out and join them for a scrumptious turkey dinner with all the trimmings and of course some great community fellowship.
The Big Valley Drop In Centre’s first community pancake supper of the season will be on Monday, Oct. 24 beginning at 5:30 p.m. Events at the Drop In Centre include crib at 1:30 p.m. every Sunday; Monday and Friday night cards at 7:00 p.m. and floor curling every Thursday afternoon at 1:00 p.m. Don’t forget to mark your calendars for the annual Flu Clinic on Wednesday, Nov. 2 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Big Valley’s Hall Board Bingo is back. Come join the fun every Thursday, at the Community Hall. Warm up is at 7:30 p.m.
The Big Valley Inn weekly Crib Tournaments begin on Sunday, Oct. 16 at 1:00 p.m. Crib is open to anyone over 18 who would like to spend a Sunday afternoon playing cards and visiting with friends.
Big Valley Library’s fall programming season has begun. Returning monthly programs include Sit’n Stitch, taking place on the second Saturday of the month, and the Big Valley Book Club meeting on the last Friday of each month. The Painting Group will continue to meet at the Train Station every Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and the Ukulele Club now also meets at the Train Station every Monday. Additional programming events will be announced as they are developed.
Don’t forget to book your table for the annual Big Valley Christmas Craft Show and Sale. This popular event is slated for Saturday, Nov. 17 at the Big Valley Community Hall. For more information or to book a table please call Andrea at 403-8762064.
The last regular train of this tourist season will be on Saturday, October 8 and then the Museums will be closed for the winter. There is a list of volunteers on McAlister’s Museum window who will open up the museums for visitors during normal hours.
Over the winter the Historical Society will be busy with more tools for the tool museum as well as remodeling the north rail baggage car to hold more historical artifacts. They are also planning a centennial celebration for St. Edmunds (Blue Church) Anglican Church for the Spring of 2017.
