I was shocked to pick up the paper this morning and see the obituary of an old friend. Sincere condolences from everyone in Delia to the family of Jim Scott. Jim and Pat farmed in Delia and were among the first people we met when we moved here. Deepest sympathy to all of Jim’s family and many friends at such a sad time for the family. The same paper – the Drumheller Mail,, had the obituaries of other well known people from our area that this column mentioned before, so again deepest sympathy to the families of Eileen Smyth and Bud Bixby. We are losing too many good people from our area . It is very sad.. and so hard on the families.

The Delia Annual Fair, sponsored by the Ag. Society, is over for another year. The day was not as perfect an autumn day as one would wish, but there seemed to be the usual amount of exhibits. The vendors stalls were in the curling rink this year, the Art Photography exhibit was featured in St. Patrick’s Historic Church . It was nice to see the participation of the Hutterite students in the school displays, in which they did really well. The organizers of the Fair had the children in mind and provided fun and interesting activities including pony rides and a bouncy castle. Good job as usual from the hard work- ing Ag. Society and helpers.

I spent a few days over Thanksgiving in Edmonton with family and I am glad we don’t have the snow they have further north. Our snow is nearly gone, with a few dry days the farmers will get to finish the harvest and I may even get my yardwork done.
