It’s that time of year again when the extracurricular activities are starting up and you will have lots of options to get out and get involved. The Rumsey/ Rowley 4-H Beef Club will be having their organizational meeting on Tuesday, October 25 for all children in the area from ages 9 to 21. It will be held at the Rumsey curling rink starting at 7:00 p.m. The Ag Society would like to thank all the participants of the Drumheller District Exchange Group which consisted of children from our Rumsey/Rowley 4-H Beef club, Morrin Multi-club and the Delia Beef Club. On July 8, these 12 mem- bers plus 12 members from Ontario painted all the tables in the hall as well as the bleachers at the baseball diamonds. As part of the exchange itinerary, these young people did a community project here and another in Ontario when the kids went back there. You have to admit – 4-H is great!

The Curling rink is gearing up for another season, Brooks reports that the ice is developing nicely and they plan to start Super League on November 4. The Ladies League will start the following Tuesday, November 8, the Open League on Thursday, November 10 with the Juniors starting the fol- lowing Tuesday, November 15. If you are interested in joining the Juniors, please call Brooks at 403-3682357 and for the other leagues, give Rod a call at 403-368-2401.

The Morrin Lions are planning to have an awareness/information session on November 22 about Diabetes. This meeting will include information about the types of diabetes, prediabetes, exercise, nutrition and a chance to get some questions answered. They are just in the planning stage now and will send me more information as they get closer to the date.

The Big Valley Ag Society is also planning a Post-Harvest celebration on October 29 featuring the comedian Brad Muisel. The tickets include a supper to go along with the great entertainment, starts at 6:00 p.m. Our Fall supper will be the Saturday after this, November 5 starting at 5:00 p.m. I also noticed in the post office all the posters advertising fall suppers around the community. Boy there is no reason to miss out on a turkey supper and support a good cause in the next month or so.

Keep in mind that the Rumsey Library will be starting up our Craft Nights on Tuesday, November 8 at 7:00 p.m. We will start with ex- ploring the fun of knitting so bring in your projects, learn from skilled knitters or just come and sit and knit and visit if that appeals to you. Love to see you come out. The 2017 Community Calendar will be available soon so plan picking one up for yourselves or a friend.

The Rumsey Drop-In will be starting up a Cribbage and games afternoon on Sunday, November 20 starting at 1:00 p.m. The Drop-In has lots of space so we don’t have to stick to crib, we can set up tables for other games, there is also a pool table and shuffleboard table in the basement that could be used as well. We will try this date as our first event and if enough people would rather switch to a weekday evening, we can do some changes. I am open to suggestions. Stop in at the library and let me know.

Quote of the day: “Somedays my decision making skills resemble that of a squirrel when crossing the street.” Have a great week.
