Hand Hills Grapevine
Hello Hand Hills…This weather pattern is starting to scare me! Is this winter??? The amount of fog we have been getting is telling me that winter could bring lots of snow. The old saying…it is what it is…is the only thing we know.
Lots of people attended the Delia Fall Fair because of this nasty, wet weather so there is something good out of something bad. Delia, you did a great job! From the good food, the great music, the displays and all the great people that were there to visit with. Hats off to you Delia!
Hearts are sad here in the Hills as we had to say goodbye to two great guys this past couple of weeks.
Our Condolences to Merna Stevens, Dallas Stevens and their families on the passing of their husband, father, grand- father, great grandfather, Don Stevens. Don and Merna lived on the Don Mammel Place where they ranched. R.I.P Don!
Our thoughts and prayers are with Shelley Bixby and her family as they come to terms with the untimely passing of Bud Bixby. Who of us in the Hills did not grow up on the Bixby’s’ music? The love of music that Bud had is a talent that is hard to find. Watching Bud and Shelley sing one could see the love between them and the love of their music! Thanks for all the memories and the great music Bud. R.I. P. and we know that you are still playing way up yonder.
The Hand Hills congratulates the Munson Community on the opening of their new community hall. All the work has come together and will be a legacy for years to come.
One never knows who they will see on a jaunt away from the Ranch! Five of us left Tuesday for a tour of the tunnels in Moose Jaw. Driving down the main street of the city I saw Mildred Warner and Geraldine Griffith. Turns out they were on the Dejong Tour Bus. Hope that they enjoyed their visit to the city as much as I did. The tunnels were worth the trip and made me realize just how much we discriminated against the Chinese. We stayed at a bed and breakfast and we would highly recommend it to anyone.
Congratulations to Frank and Eunice Wilson on the celebration of 60 Years of marriage. They hosted a family gathering at the Verdant Valley Community Centre. That is a long, long time! Hand Hills wishes you many, many more!
Help is needed for the Turkey Supper that is this Sunday, October 23. Starting on Friday at 1 we will be cleaning the Hall, cooking the fruit pies and cooking the cream pies filling and shells (for you ladies that love to make pies!), and if enough of you show up we can start on the veggies.
Saturday at 9 we will be cooking the cream pies, prepping all the turkeys, peeling veggies, decorating plus many other things. Please plan to volunteer! We do a lot but have a lot of fun doing it!
Get your Halloween costumes ready! The club is sponsoring a Halloween Pizza Night on Friday, October 28. Bring the kids down for games, food and don’t forget to bring your candy. Everyone from the community is invited down to see the little ghosts and goblins and feast on some of Day and Bills’ homemade pizza. See you there!
Till next week…save some room on your calendar for the Turkey Supper and mark November 19 as the Ranchers’ Ball!
