The Drumheller Mail - - CLASSIFIEDS - Helen Leonhardt 403-823-9823

The sympathy of the community to Lyle and Diana Rowe on the passing of Lyle’s father, John Rowe at the age of 92 years. Funeral services were held at the Munson Hall on Friday, October 14. Another old timer gone and sadly missed.

The Verdant Valley Community Center has been the scene of some family events. On the weekend of October 15 the family of Frank and Eunice Wilson gathered to celebrate the 60th wedding anniversary of Frank and Eunice. What a special occasion and our best wishes to them. This last weekend, October 22, the family of Doris Wade gathered at the community Center to enjoy visiting and quilting. What a great way to get together and share some quality time and learn a family craft.

There is no shortage of places this month where one can eat out and help worthwhile community or charitable causes. Back on October 15 Rowley held their Steak and Lobster Night. On October 20 Munson Community held a Turkey supper in their new hall. On Saturday, October 22 Grace Lutheran Church held a Pig Roast for Habitat for Humanity in Drumheller with a great response from the community. The annual Hand Hills Turkey Supper on Sunday, October 23 was exceptional as usual and let us get a look at the nearly finished new kitchen. In the coming weeks there is a Fall Supper in Morrin on Wednesday, October 26 and in Rumsey on November 5. This coming Sunday, October 29, the Knox United Church is holding a fundraiser barbecue beef supper at the Verdant Valley Community Center. Wow! You have your choice of very fine dining.

Congratulations to Liam McDougald who will be presented with the silver Duke of Edinburgh Award on Saturday, October 28. His adventure journeys have taken Liam on the Cycle to Banff led by Two Wheel View and the Drumheller RCMP Community Youth Challenge.
