Community rallies around local family
On August 18 a local, 31 year old father passed away leaving a wife and three children behind. The community of Delia has come together to do a fundraiser to help the family of Tyler Boon with everything they are currently facing. Tyler was on AISH due to the illness he struggled with. Tyler dealt with both Lyme disease and Cyclic Vomiting Syndrome most of his life.
The fundraiser is for a draw that will be made December 3. The winner will receive two sides of beef, approximately 400-450 lbs of beef.
Shannel Boon, wife of Tyler Boon, told “This is amazing. It just goes to show how many lives Tyler touched and that his life, even though cut short, mattered. He was a bright light that was just snuffed out too quickly. Death doesn’t stop the bills. We still have an outstanding dental bill. When he first passed I took two weeks off, maybe that wasn’t long enough, but I already lost five of my day home kids but the cost of day to day living kept piling up.”
Carla Anderson and a “generous cattle buyer”, who doesn’t want his name to be mentioned, banned together with the Delia community to raise money to help support the kids in their day to day needs and their educational future. Tyler grew up on a farm in Delia and Carla Anderson babysat Tyler as a child.
Shannel said that this Christmas really would not have been much of a Christmas for the kids without this help. She said she is truly amazed with everyone who is feeling the pinch of the economy still willing to help out.
“I am forever grateful to everyone helping and everyone who even buys a ticket.” Shannel said, “Even though our love story didn’t end like I wanted, I know he spent every day of his life loving me and our children. He would be so happy to see people helping us out.”
