Cec joined the order in Standard, and has taken part as it migrated first to Gleichen and then to Brooks. We are proud of you and all that you have done for the community Cec! Congratulations!
A great afternoon was spent as the combines rolled in and harvested the Memory Lane field. Thank you to Erik and Richard Bach, Tim, David and Matt Nielsen, Harvey and Clifford Larsen, Trent Sundgard, Don Jensen, Brian Rasmussen, Mike Rasmussen, Don Sundgard. Brian, Mike, Moe and Louise Wellen and a special thank you to Alan Larsen for bringing supper. What a great community we live in - volunteers are awesome!
I want to wish Elmer and Leona Jensen a very happy 76th wedding anniversary (October 27). Can you believe they have been married so long? We wish them many more years of happiness.
Don’t forget to come out to the Nazareth church Women’s turkey supper on November 2 from 5 until 7 p.m. The ladies and their team of helpers have been baking hard and we look forward to another delicious community meal!
The Nazareth Lutheran Church’s Shepherd School had a fun time on October 29 going door to door to do “Reverse Trick or Treating”. Instead of asking for a treat, they were giving them away to all their neighbors to show that they love you and want to bless you! Thank you to everyone who provided treats and took part in the fun!
With the colder weather comes more opportunity to contract the common cold or even the flu! There is a flu shot clinic at the Standard Senior’s Center on Wednesday, November 9 from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. Remember to bring your Alberta Health Care Card! The Wheatland Weed Consensus meeting is coming up. Representatives from oil and gas, spray companies and the County will be there to discuss current issues with invasive plants with local land owner/producers. They meet on Wednesday, November 2, 2-4 p.m. at the Rockyford Community Centre. Everyone is welcome.
Need a coat for the coming winter for you or a member of your family? County Coats will be in Standard on Wednesday, December 7 from 3:30 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. Thanks to the community for supporting this great endeavour.
The Memory Lane Committee still has 50 tickets for their draw. Tickets can be obtained through any of the committee members, or by calling Mayor Allan Larsen.
Adults! Come connect, relax and have some fun with Hand Built Pottery (creating unique bowls and plates by hand) on Wednesday, November 16 from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the Standard Library. To save your seat (limited room) and for more information, call 403-983-3640. We are also looking for a volunteer Hospitality Host who can assist the facilitator. They will receive a complimentary workshop in thanks for their help.
