Open house slated for High­way 575 cul­vert re­place­ment

Al­berta Trans­porta­tion will be un­der­tak­ing to re­place a col­laps­ing cul­vert on High­way 575 next sum­mer and are look­ing for feed­back on road clo­sure op­tions.

The de­part­ment, in con­junc­tion with the Town of Drumheller will be hold­ing an Open House on Novem­ber 9 at the BCF 5-7 p.m. The Open House is to in­form res­i­dents about a pro­ject to re­place a large cul­vert which passes un­der High­way 575 South Rail­way Av­enue (be­tween Premier Road and 9th Street SW).

Due to the size of the pro­ject, the road will need to be closed for a pe­riod of time. “The open house is a chance to dis­cover more about the proj- ect and the time­lines in­volved,” ex­plains Dar­ryl Dro­homer­ski, di­rec­tor of In­fra­struc­ture Ser­vices. “It is an op­por­tu­nity to meet the team who will be com­plet­ing the work and to hear the op­tions for the road clo­sure which will likely start in Au­gust 2017.”

“It is im­por­tant to keep lo­cal busi­nesses and res­i­dents in­formed of the im­pact on the busy North Di­nosaur Trail and so we will be do­ing a mail out as well,” said Ju­lia Field­ing, Eco­nomic De­vel­op­ment and Com­mu­ni­ca­tions of­fi­cer for the Town of Drumheller. “We en­cour­age peo­ple to re­spond to the mail out or at­tend the Open House as we want to hear from peo­ple who will be most af­fected by the road changes over the time pe­riod.”
