Wow that was quite the moon out there. Hopefully you had a chance to take a good look at it.
The Munson 300 Raffle Draw lucky winner for November 12 was Ouida Gerat. Now this was a bit of a tricky draw as the writing wasn’t very clear and the phone number listed was no longer in service. So I sent a plea out on Facebook asking if anyone might know this individual and how we might reach them. The airways were pretty quiet when late Saturday night I had a phone call from sister-in-law Dorothy Gwynn, who dabbles in genealogy had tracked down who she thought it might be. She even had a phone number for me. Low and behold I called the number and it was the right person. Turns out her nephew had purchased the ticket for her last Christmas. Mystery solved, congratulations Ouida and thank you Dorothy.
It was a quiet week with no school but looks like the kids got to participate in the fall work that is wrapping up. Speaking of which it’s nice to see the majority of the fields finished and only a few clouds of harvest dust in the distance. The harvest of 2016 will definitely go down in history and be one for us to talk about for a long time.
Remember November is Diabetes Awareness Month, and this is your diabetes fact for the week. Did you know that by the year 2020, one in three Canadians will either have diabetes or pre-diabetes. That is a scary number when you think about it. We all need to eat healthier no doubt but when you look at that statistic it really hits home. That’s it “no more halloween candy, I’m getting rid of it”! Take care of yourself. The Morrin Lions will be holding a public information session the evening of Tuesday, November 22 at the Morrin hall. The evening will include information on types of diabetes, prediabetes, exercise and nutrition.
The Rural Crime Watch Annual General Meeting will be held on November 16 at the Diana Restaurant starting with supper at 6:00. The meeting will start at 7:00.
Mark your calendars: the Morrin Santa Breakfast will be December 4 at the Morrin Hall and the Munson Santa Breakfast will be on December 18.
I must reiterate again the importance of driving safely on the highways with the farm equipment on the road. We were almost in an accident when a vehicle passed a long line of slowly moving vehicles that were waiting for a big truck to turn left. Had the farmer not been watching in his side mirror and stopped turning there would have been an accident and it would have ruined more than everyone’s day. Be careful on the highways and always drive defensively.
Be good to those around, kindness goes a long way. You never know when you will need just a little extra kindness to help you through your day. Have a good week.
