The Orkney community and surrounding area are saddened this week with the passing of Eileen (Borwick) Herron last Saturday morning. She put up a valiant effort. Her service is this Sunday at 2:00 pm at the Badlands Community Facility in Drumheller. Sympathy to her husband Tom and the Borwick families.
I expect harvest is finished in Orkney but there may still be loose ends to tie up and get machinery winterized and put away. The next rush will be to get organized for Christmas.
This past Sunday night we were to see the ‘supermoon’ but unless you stayed up until very early Monday morning we were clouded over but I did hear that at 2:30 am it was like sunshine so maybe Monday night we may get lucky to see this event as it won’t happen for another 34 years. I don’t think I’ll be able to stay up that long!
I trust there was a good turn out for the Remembrance Service last Friday. I have not missed very many but wasn’t well enough to attend this year. I hope the Poppy Fund received a substantial amount of money this year.
If you’re a sports fan, the football season is coming to a close and it could be a very interesting Grey Cup in Toronto. They at least won’t have the weather to contend with. Much better than outdoors and below zero.
That’s it for this week. Henry Ford said, “Failure is only the opportunity to begin again more intelligently.”
