I had the opportunity to speak with a number of local farmers from Craigmyle and Delia this weekend. Those I spoke to reported having just finished their combining and relieved to do so, as they thought this would be the year of the spring harvest. Yes, Walter R., you can leave for balmy Arizona knowing that both you and your crop will be out of the snow and cold!
The November 20 Craigmyle turkey supper is fast approaching with a reminder that volunteers are meeting on Saturday, November 19 at 10:00 am to prepare food for the event. All volunteers who can come out will be appreciated.
Also coming up is the Craigmyle Church Women’s ladies Christmas party on Friday, December 2. This is a no-charge event open to all ladies from inside and outside the community. The evening begins at 6:00 pm with a supper, followed by an interactive “Game Show” and a gift exchange. Each attending guest is asked to bring a wrapped gift for the gift exchange. It is IMPERATIVE that those who wish to attend call Betty (403-6652247) or Bev (403-665-2492) by November 25 to confirm their presence. The church ladies want to make sure they have enough food for all. If the laughter and fun at last year’s supper was any indication of this year’s event, a great time will be had by all.
I had a recent conversation with Gail Olmstead who has just returned from a trip to Mexico with Sean, Shelagh and girls as well as other extended family. Gail is a bit younger than I am, but she is definitely much bolder, as she shared with me that she went parasailing and loved every minute of it. So Gail, is skydiving next? Way to go, girl!
The next Craigmyle Historic Society meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, November 22 at 7:00 pm in the church basement. All are encouraged to come out.
Happy Anniversary this week to Grant and Rachelle Stuber, who celebrate on November 17. Have a great day!
