Man pleads guilty to pos­ses­sion of stolen prop­erty, weapon

One of the three charged in a string of crimes in ear­lier this month wasted no time in hav­ing his charges dealt with.

The Mail re­ported in its Novem­ber 23 edi­tion, that three in­di­vid­u­als had been charged, pri­mar­ily with prop­erty re­lated crimes. Terry Hep­ton­stall, 36, of Drumheller ap­peared in pro­vin­cial court in Drumheller on Fri­day, Novem­ber 25. He pleaded guilty to pos­ses­sion of stolen prop­erty and pos­ses­sion of a weapon.

In the early hours of Novem­ber 15, two peo­ple were spot­ted al­legedly steal­ing tool­boxes from the back of a truck. The com­plainant fol­lowed the sus­pects who were in a truck. The truck crashed and the sus­pect fled on foot, Hep­ton­stall, the reg­is­tered owner of the truck even­tu­ally turned him­self in. Po­lice ob­tained a search war­rant for his truck and dis­cov­ered a num­ber of ar­ti­cles of prop­erty be­lieved to be stolen, as well as a knife and drug para­pher­na­lia.

Hep­ton­stall was sen­tenced to six months in jail. He was given 16 days credit for the eight days he spent await­ing his day in court.

Charges against Ben­jamin Olivier and Jamie Oliver are still pend­ing.
