Man pleads guilty to possession of stolen property, weapon
One of the three charged in a string of crimes in earlier this month wasted no time in having his charges dealt with.
The Mail reported in its November 23 edition, that three individuals had been charged, primarily with property related crimes. Terry Heptonstall, 36, of Drumheller appeared in provincial court in Drumheller on Friday, November 25. He pleaded guilty to possession of stolen property and possession of a weapon.
In the early hours of November 15, two people were spotted allegedly stealing toolboxes from the back of a truck. The complainant followed the suspects who were in a truck. The truck crashed and the suspect fled on foot, Heptonstall, the registered owner of the truck eventually turned himself in. Police obtained a search warrant for his truck and discovered a number of articles of property believed to be stolen, as well as a knife and drug paraphernalia.
Heptonstall was sentenced to six months in jail. He was given 16 days credit for the eight days he spent awaiting his day in court.
Charges against Benjamin Olivier and Jamie Oliver are still pending.
