Community comes out to support food drive
The annual food drive was another great success in the valley as volunteers went door-to-door collecting food to fill The Salvation Army Food Bank for those in need. Organizers Kim Suntjens, left, and Summer Manca were also able to muster a strong contingent of volunteers who sorted the donated items. Captain Jennifer Hillier of The Salvation Army is grateful for the support. “This is one of the events I love because it comes full circle,” said Hillier. “We have entire families coming out, they give, they help sort and everyone participates. It is a great family event.” She said this is the major food drive for The Salvation Army that helps stock its food bank for the coming season beyond Christmas. “It is fantastic, there is a great turnout tonight and we want to thank the community for continuing their support,” said Hillier.
