Big Valley Bulletin
Warm winter wishes to everyone. This cold snap had done nothing to slow down Christmas preparations here in the Village. Downtown businesses have been busy festooning their windows with holiday trimmings as the whole village glows with holiday sparkle every evening when the sun goes down. Community organizations and businesses have been holding their annual Christmas parties, adding to the holiday cheer.
Due to the success of Big Valley’s previous “Christmas in the Village” celebrations, this year the festivities have grown to include many more family friendly activities. Along with the very popular annual sleigh rides, bonfires, hot dog roast and of course the “Best Decorated House Contest” the Jubilee Hall will be abuzz with a variety of adult and children’s games, entertainment, including our own Rosco, carolling and a musical selection from the Big Valley Ukulele Club. There will be free chili and an assortment of yummy treats along with a cash bar for those who would like to enjoy a bit of holiday cheer.
Come out and join us on Thursday, December 22 at the Jubilee Hall for an evening of fun, family celebrating beginning at 6:00 p.m.
Merry Christmas from Big Valley School! Preparations and rehearsals for the Christmas Concert are coming along very well. Students have been giving their all to help make this year’s concert come together. The school has been doing a reverse advent calendar to collect food bank donations for those less fortunate this holiday season where each family brings in one item of food until the night of the concert. As usual, they are stilling asking those who are able to bring a food bank donation on concert night.
Come out and join them for “A Merry Fairy Christmas” at the Big Valley Jubilee Hall on Monday, December 19. Don’t forget the students will be holding a bake sale just before the concert. Doors open at 6:15 for the sale, with the concert starting at 7:00 p.m. Everyone is welcome to enjoy this evening of holiday fun.
The Big Valley E Free Church will begin holiday celebrations with a night of skating, hot dogs and the Christmas story on Sunday, December 18 at 6:00 p.m. The evening will start with skating and end with the simple retelling of the Nativity. Bundle up the family and come out to the Big Valley Arena for a fun, carefree family evening. Everyone is welcome.
