Three Hills RCMP in­ves­ti­gate fa­tal col­li­sion on High­way 21

Three Hills RCMP are in­ves­ti­gat­ing af­ter a stolen truck was in­volved in a fa­tal col­li­sion on the morn­ing of Mon­day, De­cem­ber 19 near Del­burne.

At ap­prox­i­mately 11:00 a.m. on Dec. 19, a Dodge Ram pickup truck was trav­el­ling south­bound on High­way 21 at the Del­burne en­trance when it crossed the cen­tre line and en­tered the op­po­site ditch. The driver of the truck brought the ve­hi­cle back onto the road where it en­tered into on-com­ing traf­fic and col­lided with a north­bound S.U.V.

The driver of the S.U.V., a 61- year-old male was taken to hos­pi­tal where he was pro­nounced de­ceased. A fe­male pas­sen­ger in the S.U.V. was also trans­ported to hos­pi­tal with se­ri­ous in­juries.

The 25-year-old man and 46-year-old man from the Dodge Ram left on foot and were brought back by wit­nesses to re­ceive med­i­cal at­ten­tion. They were also taken to hos­pi­tal for in­juries that are not be­lieved to be life-threat­en­ing.

Traf­fic was re-routed around the col­li­sion scene for sev­eral hours. Three Hills RCMP and the RCMP Col­li­sion An­a­lyst are con­tin­u­ing to in­ves­ti­gate with as­sis­tance from Red Deer Gen­eral In­ves­ti­ga­tion Sec­tion.
