Hand Hills Grapevine
Hello Hand Hills…..the weatherman was right about it warming up. Today we are sitting at +4. What little snow we do have is sure to be gone with this chinook. Go out and enjoy this as I am sure that it will be back to winter just as fast! Hello to all our friends and neighbors snow birding in the States. Come back, you are missing a great Alberta chinook!
Some friends and neighbors have been holidaying just to get away from the cold winter weather. The Owen Francis family and the Rod Moench family spent time together in Mexico. Richard and Charlotte Preston, Charlene Preston, Cody, Jolene, Chance and Colby Scott along with Barb Burgemeister spent Christmas in Hawaii. Hope all enjoyed their getaway .
The Annual General Meeting of the Club has been changed to February 2 at 7 p.m. This was to allow people to attend the TB Information Seminar that is being held in Hanna on the original date of January 26. Please plan to attend both of these as they are important.
It is time to get back to work at the Club Renos and a work bee has been set for this Friday, January 20 at 1 p.m. We are going to try a couple of different times and days to see what works. The plan is to tear out the old kitchen, stain and varnish the waintscoting (boards) and put these up around the inside of the entry and the new addition, along with other things. Hope that you can come and lend us a hand.
Let’s get ‘er done!
We need volunteers to work the casino in Red Deer on March 30 and 31. If you can help please phone Day ASAP as he has to get the forms sent in. His number is 403 854 0976.
If you are driving down 1st Avenue West in Hanna and see a house with perfectly cleared sidewalk, you are looking at the Bert Radke house! At almost 90 years of age Bert can be seen outside, no matter the winter weather, clearing her walks. They are manicured to perfection. If she can do it you can too! Bert you are an inspiration to all of us younger generation to go get the job done. All year round Bert’s yard is a masterpiece! Bert can be seen walking around town to get the mail or her groceries. Maybe all that fresh air and yard work is what is keeping her so young! Hello BERT from the Hills!
Sunday proved again how popular the Delia Arena is. After a couple of hockey games, there was public skating and three little girls’ chose this as the place to have their birthday party. The place was a beehive of family fun! Our granddaughter Ellie was one of the birthday girls as was Kylie Larsen and Miss Meyers (sorry I didn’t get her name as there was way too much going on)! What a great way to bring a community together.
Till next week…do like Bert! Get outside, shovel that walk, walk to the post office, go skating (in Delia of course) but do whatever it takes to get out!
