Morrin Community Calendar
So, just a couple of more weeks left in this first month of the new year and it sure has been a chilly, blustery beginning. This past Sunday brought milder temps and sunshine our way and that was a most welcome reprieve from the cold.
And you might need to get yourself some ice-melt as some of the sidewalk and driveway areas get slick. The Morrin Lions have a good product available that comes in a big 35 lb plastic pail. John Neill may help you out with that if you give him at call at 403-772-3847 and we discovered last week that there is also a supply of this product on hand at the Mountain View Credit Union. And I mentioned last week that the Morrin Lions are serving up the annual Valentine’s breakfast at the Morrin Community Hall on Sunday, February 12.
Also on the first Saturday night in February on the 4th, the Morrin Figure Skating Club will be hosting their major fundraiser at the Rumsey Community Hall. They will be putting on a dance party and midnight lunch for 18 and over and the band “Five of Diamonds” from Hanna will provide a variety of pop, rock and country music that evening. We got our tickets...how ‘ bout you!
So that’s about all the newsy news I have for this week. On a personal note, a big part of our January family fun has been the acquisition and training of a new black lab pup “Loni”...she is lots of work and excitement for sure, nice to have a dog again! And we have been watching a bit of curling...yay for Team North America who defeated the World for the 5th year in a row! And, this Friday we will definitely be tuned in to the Inauguration of the 45th President of the United States, Mr. Donald J. Trump. A prime function of a leader is to keep hope alive. He had a strong message and inspired tens of thousands to come out to his campaign rallies across America, day after day for months, and as a result overwhelmingly won the electoral college and the vote of 63 million Americans, white, black, male, female etc. It is disheartening (from my viewpoint) to see the petulance of many democrats in power as they rebelliously shun the voice of the people, vowing to boycott this historical, peaceful transfer of power. What a bunch of sour grapes! Anyway, we will wait and watch and see and maybe even the naysayers will soon be cheering him on. I don’t think I have ever seen the press so animated, many of them might even become true journalists again...let’s hope for the best! And I hope you enjoy the slightly warmer weather for the next few days as we push through to the end of the month...cheers!
