Drumheller Dragons split games on road

The Dragons earned one of a pos­si­ble two points on the road last week.

The Dragons were in Spruce Grove to take on the Saints on Fri­day, Jan­uary 13. The Saints out­shot the Dragons 33-24, but when it counted, Chad Hur­tubise, hit the back of the net 3:11 into the third pe­riod, as­sisted by Jaf­frey Fasegha. Dragons win 1-0. Hunter Virostek had the shutout and the Star of the Game.

On Sun­day, the Dragons were back in Oko­toks to take on the Oil­ers for the fourth time in 12 days. The Oil­ers came out strong and went up by two goals in the first pe­riod. Nate Kee­ley, as­sisted by Troy Dud­ley put the Dragons on the score­board with three min­utes left to end the pe­riod 2-1.

That was as close as they could get, as the Oil­ers added a third goal in the sec­ond and two more in the third to win 5-1. Oko­toks was 2 for 4 on the power play.

The Dragons hold on to sixth place in the AJHL Viterra South with 19-19-4 record.

This Tues­day the Dragons were in Cal­gary to take on the Mus­tangs, re­sults were not avail­able at press time, and on Fri­day they are back at home to take on the Olds Griz­zlys.
