Sin­cere con­do­lences to Elsie Holm, Dale and Deb­bie Struc­snes, Keith and Janell Holm, Neil and An­gela Holm, Colleen and Adam Ver­weire, Mike and Lisa Wor­thing­ton and all the grand­chil­dren on the pass­ing of Gor­don Holm this past week­end. His fu­neral ser­vice will be held at Moun­tainView fu­neral home on Jan­uary 27 at 2 pm.

Katie Taubert, Macken­zie Holm and Erin Slemko trav­elled to Red Deer Jan­uary 6-8 to par­tic­i­pate in a ringette tour­na­ment with their team ‘Strath­more Ice Fu­sion’. The girls placed third over­all and had a great time. A high­light from the week­end was get­ting to play a mini ringette game at the Cen­trium dur­ing the Red Deer Rebels hockey game.

Con­grat­u­la­tions to the Bas­sano Out­laws Pee­wee team for win­ning their home tour­na­ment Jan­uary 13-15. Hussar play­ers on the team are Dayne Col­lett, Cadin Hiebert, Dustin Holm, Em­mitt Filko­hazy, Tris­tan and Chase Fraser, and Ja­son Slemko. Way to go boys!

A big thank you to ev­ery­one that con­trib­uted to the Hussar Playschool bot­tle drive on Satur­day, Jan­uary 14. Your sup­port is greatly ap­pre­ci­ated!

Gar­rett Fandry played in the Fort McLeod Ban­tam Tour­na­ment as an af­fil­i­ate with the Strath­more Ban­tam A team this past week­end. The boys came home with the gold - way to go boys! Alex Treacy plays for this team as well.

The Hussar Men’s Bon­spiel started on Jan­uary 15 and runs all week. Come down and check out the ac­tion at the curl­ing rink!

Robert & Ar­lene Filko­hazy left Jan­uary 8 to drive to Las Ve­gas to help her sis­ter Val Theve­naz cel­e­brate her 60th birth­day on Jan­uary 14. Carey Taubert flew in on the Thurs­day for the week­end with cousins Ken­dra and Lind­sey. Dave and Brenda Theve­naz also joined the group. They stayed at the Bel­la­gio Ho­tel and en­joyed some games at the Con­ti­nen­tal Cup, some took in the “Hu­man Na­ture” show, went to a com­edy club, shopped and ate way too much! For the birth­day evening, the group en­joyed a Mur­der Mys­tery din­ner show on Freemont Street fol­lowed by lots of fun at the roulette ta­bles. Ben and Terry Arm­strong were also in Las Ve­gas for the week to en­joy the Con­ti­nen­tal Cup stay­ing at the Or­leans ho­tel con­nected to the Or­leans arena. Good fun watch­ing our North Amer­i­can team win the Cup over the World team!

The Hussar Fire­works ringette team par­tic­i­pated in the Golden Ring tour­na­ment in Cal­gary the week­end of Jan­uary 13-15. The com­pe­ti­tion was fierce and the games were good but the girls didn’t ad­vance to the semi fi­nal round. A fun night in a ho­tel and team bond­ing were en­joyed though!

The Hussar Ladies bon­spiel will be held Jan­uary 29 to Fe­bru­ary 4. Con­tact Rae-Ann Knud­sen to en­ter a team.

Gor­don Brown cel­e­brated his 80th birth­day with fam­ily and friends at Sage­wood on Satur­day, Jan­uary 7. Ev­ery­one sang happy birth­day and en­joyed birth­day cake. Gor­don was over­whelmed by all that at­tended and spent the next day with his sis­ter, who was vis­it­ing from Man­i­toba, read­ing the hun­dreds of birth­day cards he re­ceived.

On Fri­day, Jan­uary 6 the com­mu­nity got to­gether to cel­e­brate Andy Kirk­patrick’s 75th birth­day! The party was very well at­tended by Andy’s fam­ily and friends from far and wide. Ev­ery­one wishes him a great 75th year and many more to come, happy birth­day Andy.
