Sincere condolences to Elsie Holm, Dale and Debbie Strucsnes, Keith and Janell Holm, Neil and Angela Holm, Colleen and Adam Verweire, Mike and Lisa Worthington and all the grandchildren on the passing of Gordon Holm this past weekend. His funeral service will be held at MountainView funeral home on January 27 at 2 pm.
Katie Taubert, Mackenzie Holm and Erin Slemko travelled to Red Deer January 6-8 to participate in a ringette tournament with their team ‘Strathmore Ice Fusion’. The girls placed third overall and had a great time. A highlight from the weekend was getting to play a mini ringette game at the Centrium during the Red Deer Rebels hockey game.
Congratulations to the Bassano Outlaws Peewee team for winning their home tournament January 13-15. Hussar players on the team are Dayne Collett, Cadin Hiebert, Dustin Holm, Emmitt Filkohazy, Tristan and Chase Fraser, and Jason Slemko. Way to go boys!

Garrett Fandry played in the Fort McLeod Bantam Tournament as an affiliate with the Strathmore Bantam A team this past weekend. The boys came home with the gold - way to go boys! Alex Treacy plays for this team as well.
The Hussar Men’s Bonspiel started on January 15 and runs all week. Come down and check out the action at the curling rink!
Robert & Arlene Filkohazy left January 8 to drive to Las Vegas to help her sister Val Thevenaz celebrate her 60th birthday on January 14. Carey Taubert flew in on the Thursday for the weekend with cousins Kendra and Lindsey. Dave and Brenda Thevenaz also joined the group. They stayed at the Bellagio Hotel and enjoyed some games at the Continental Cup, some took in the “Human Nature” show, went to a comedy club, shopped and ate way too much! For the birthday evening, the group enjoyed a Murder Mystery dinner show on Freemont Street followed by lots of fun at the roulette tables. Ben and Terry Armstrong were also in Las Vegas for the week to enjoy the Continental Cup staying at the Orleans hotel connected to the Orleans arena. Good fun watching our North American team win the Cup over the World team!
The Hussar Fireworks ringette team participated in the Golden Ring tournament in Calgary the weekend of January 13-15. The competition was fierce and the games were good but the girls didn’t advance to the semi final round. A fun night in a hotel and team bonding were enjoyed though!

Gordon Brown celebrated his 80th birthday with family and friends at Sagewood on Saturday, January 7. Everyone sang happy birthday and enjoyed birthday cake. Gordon was overwhelmed by all that attended and spent the next day with his sister, who was visiting from Manitoba, reading the hundreds of birthday cards he received.
On Friday, January 6 the community got together to celebrate Andy Kirkpatrick’s 75th birthday! The party was very well attended by Andy’s family and friends from far and wide. Everyone wishes him a great 75th year and many more to come, happy birthday Andy.
