Dragons split week­end

The Dragons had a strong week­end split­ting its home stand ver­sus the Olds Griz­zlys and then the Cal­gary Canucks.

The Dragons hosted the Olds Griz­zlys on Fri­day, Jan­uary 20 in front of 571 fans. The Dragons jumped out early as Jef­frey Fasegha scored his first goal in a Dragons’ uni­form, unas­sisted. They went up 2-0, 3:19 into the sec­ond pe­riod with a goal from Brady Risk.

Eight min­utes into the third pe­riod, Brett Camp­bell put the Dragons up 3-0. Olds re­sponded with power play goal with six min­utes left, but that was as close as they would get. Tyler Krek­lewich capped off the game, as the Dragons went on to a 4-1 vic­tory. The Dragons out­shot Olds 41-24.

On Sun­day af­ter­noon, Jan­uary 22, the Dragons were back on home ice to play the Cal­gary Canucks. Chad Hur­tubise opened the scor­ing short­handed, unas­sisted, but Cal­gary tied is just over a minute later, the Dragons went up 2-1 on the power play thanks to a goal from Jor­dan Evans.

In the sec­ond pe­riod, Cal­gary tied it up and then went up by one. In the third pe­riod, Cal­gary scored once more to go on to a 4-2 vic­tory.

On Tues­day, the Dragons were in Cal­gary to play the Mus­tangs, re­sults not avail­able at press time. On Fri­day, the Dragons are back on home ice to play the Canucks.

The Dragons de­feated the Olds Griz­zlys on Fri­day night 4-1, but fell to the Cal­gary Canucks on Sun­day, 4-2.
