Dragons split weekend
The Dragons had a strong weekend splitting its home stand versus the Olds Grizzlys and then the Calgary Canucks.
The Dragons hosted the Olds Grizzlys on Friday, January 20 in front of 571 fans. The Dragons jumped out early as Jeffrey Fasegha scored his first goal in a Dragons’ uniform, unassisted. They went up 2-0, 3:19 into the second period with a goal from Brady Risk.
Eight minutes into the third period, Brett Campbell put the Dragons up 3-0. Olds responded with power play goal with six minutes left, but that was as close as they would get. Tyler Kreklewich capped off the game, as the Dragons went on to a 4-1 victory. The Dragons outshot Olds 41-24.
On Sunday afternoon, January 22, the Dragons were back on home ice to play the Calgary Canucks. Chad Hurtubise opened the scoring shorthanded, unassisted, but Calgary tied is just over a minute later, the Dragons went up 2-1 on the power play thanks to a goal from Jordan Evans.
In the second period, Calgary tied it up and then went up by one. In the third period, Calgary scored once more to go on to a 4-2 victory.
On Tuesday, the Dragons were in Calgary to play the Mustangs, results not available at press time. On Friday, the Dragons are back on home ice to play the Canucks.
The Dragons defeated the Olds Grizzlys on Friday night 4-1, but fell to the Calgary Canucks on Sunday, 4-2.
