Well, our Men’s Bonspiel has successfully wrapped up for another year with some real close games deciding the final winners. The Ag Society members would like to thank Ernie Goddard and Lori Caweizel for always preparing the egg mixture and cracker crumbs for our oyster night. Also a big thank you to all the volunteers that worked in the kitchen all week during the Men’s Bonspiel keeping the place going. We can’t do it without the volunteers and sponsors who support our curling season. The winners of the A Event with a steal of one in the final end were Tim Primrose, Curt McNaughton, Brett Adams and David Webster against the Krywcum team; Derek, Dallas, Jim and Jim Taylor taking home 2nd in the A event. Thank you to Hodge Brother Trucking for sponsoring this event, 3rd in the A went to Ken Olson’s team with 4th going to Al Gorman.

In the B Event, Chris Laisnez’s team from Big Valley with Rick Tizzard, Sevy Severn and Terry Annabel almost gave the game away with Chris’s second last shot of the game but he drew in for his final stone to lay second shot in a crowded house of red! Those red stones were delivered there by Kevin Helmer, Chad Dettmer, Cory Cheshire and Darcy Wagstaff who then were defaulted back to 2nd in the B Event. Thank you to Peterson’s Auto Body for sponsoring this event; 3rd in the B event was taken home by Neil Boles’s team and the 4th going to Eugene Nixon team from Byemoor.

In the C event, Brighton Watts skipped a good game with his dad, Brooks, Phil McBride and Cam Demarre against Kent Holowath’s team of Brady Nelson, Travis Caweziel and Don Brewitt. Again, this was also a very close game with the chance to tie the game in the 8th end and Brighton’s final rock getting thrown just a little light to do the trick. The 3rd in the C event was Troy Wolf and his team with 4th in the C event going to James Dodd. The sponsor for this event was CPS Trochu. Definitely had all of us spectators on the edge of our seats as we watched to see which way each game was heading.

The Ladies Bonspiel is just a week away so if you have been considering entering just give Brooks or Jackie Watts a call at 403-368-2357 and get your name on the list. It is expected to run from February 8 to 11 with the Thursday night Oyster night on the schedule so be sure to take part in the delicious meals available at the concession each night and the banquet supper on Saturday night from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Also the mixed doubles will be from Thursday, February 23 to Saturday, February 25 so get your teams entered by calling Brooks and Jackie. This is a little different event as you need a team of 2 with a male and female competitor and shortened games of 6 ends so if you are interested come and join in the fun and find out what it is all about.

The Morrin Figure Skating Club is hosting their big fundraiser at the Rumsey Hall this Saturday, February 4 featuring the band, the “Five of Diamonds.” Contact any of the figure skating parents for tickets as it is guaranteed to be a lot of fun.

Last but not least, the Rumsey Drop-In will be hosting a Coyote Derby on February 11. If you are interested, contact me at mp or 403-368-3820 for more information. It should be a fun day.

Quick but corny, enjoy: Two antennae met on a roof, fell in love and got married. Their wedding ceremony wasn’t fancy. The reception, however, was excellent

Have a great week.
