Ju­nior Bon­spiel ends in two way tie

Drumheller hosted a Ju­nior Curl­ing Bon­spiel Jan­uary 28.

The ath­letes were ages eight to 17 and there were 12 teams in at­ten­dance. Teams from Drumheller, Delia, Three Hills, Dis­bury, Cross­field, Sun­dre and Cal­gary all com­peted for the top place. First place ended up be­ing shared by one of the Three Hills teams and Cal­gary through a two way tie.

Third place went to the Delia team that con­sisted of Ken­zie Olm­stead, Jensen Bat­tle, Pres­ley Bat­tle, and Sonya Nielsen. Dis­bury took fourth place and fifth place was tied be­tween the Prairie team and the younger Delia team.

Heather Lit­tle, tour­na­ment or­ga­nizer, said, “The Drumheller team suf­fered three losses but had some close games. They gained some valu­able ex­pe­ri­ence.”

Lit­tle said, “The tour­na­ment went well. We dou­bled the num­ber of teams that we had from last year and ev­ery­one had fun.”
