DVSS, Girl’s senior Dynos take weekend basketball tournament by storm
The DVSS senior girls basketball team did well at a tournament in Brooks February 3 and 4. The Sr Dynos are; back row (l to r); Coach Jen Raugust and Brayden Peters; third row; Gillian Carey, Mikaela the tournament had a rough start on Friday when they lost to Calgary Christian School. Saturday they went on to beat Calgary Academy and Calgary’s Rundle Academy, winning the consolation side of the tournament.
After a win against Trochu on Wednesday, the Girl’s senior Dynos won 2 out of the 3 games played during the weekend tournament in Brooks. The tournament started Friday, February 3 and wrapped up Saturday, February 4 afternoon.
Assistant coach, Andrew Neuman said, “The girls had a good week, defeating Trochu on Wednesday night in league play and then winning the consolation side at their tournament at St. Joseph’s Collegiate in Brooks on the weekend.”
According to Neuman,
Head coach Jen Raugust said, “It was a pretty successful weekend. I think the girls had fun and it was a positive weekend for them.”
Coach Raugust said that there was a skills competition that they competed in during the tournament that the Dynos did well in.
“The ladies next see action at home this Wednesday against Three Hills School. Tipoff is at 5:15. Then the Dynos are off to Hanna for their Sweetheart Tournament on Friday and Saturday. Their first game is at 12:45 against St. Joseph’s Collegiate and then they play Viking High at 7:00 pm and they round out February with an away game in Acme on Monday the 15th.” Neuman said.
