We are very sorry to re­port the pass­ing of a for­mer Delia res­i­dent, Ge­orge Humphrey, af­ter a long ill­ness. Deep­est sym­pa­thy to his wife, Elsie, and to all his fam­ily and many friends. Ser­vices for Ge­orge will be held later in the Spring or early sum­mer,. Sin­cere con­do­lences to the fam­ily at this sad time.

I will be in Ed­mon­ton with fam­ily for a few days so will be send­ing this col­umn in early. Sorry for any in­con­ve­nience if this causes any­one to miss hav­ing an event in­cluded in the col­umn.

A few Delia se­niors joined the Lo­ran bus for a trip to the Jack­pot Casino and Bower Mall in Red Deer on Wed­nes­day. The trip was spon­sored by the Mor­rin Se­niors and in­cluded folk from Hanna and Drumheller as well. Ev­ery­one en­joyed shop- ping or gam­bling re­gard­less of the mi­nus thirty de­gree weather that day. Thank you Mor­rin, for the fun day, and thanks to the Lo­ran’s for an en­joy­able bus trip.

The Fe­bru­ary birth­day party at the Delia Drop In Cen­tre will be held Wed­nes­day Fe­bru­ary 15, at 2 p.m., with Peggy and Pat as hostesses for the day. The pot luck din­ner will be held at noon on Thurs­day, Fe­bru­ary 16, with a movie to fol­low. Crib night is the last Thurs­day of the month at 7 p.m., come play any card game you wish.

Re­mem­ber Fam­ily Day is on Mon­day, Fe­bru­ary 20.

Vot­ing for Delia to win the “Small Town Satur­day Night” con­test ends at mid­night Wed­nes­day -Feb. 15. A lot of ru­ral com­mu­ni­ties are en­ter­ing the con­test spon­sored by the Big Val­ley Jamboree, but Delia has as good a chance as any town. Let’s think pos­i­tive. If there is still time, go on­line and vote!

Preschool Li­brary visit on Wed­nes­day, Fe­bru­ary 15, at 1 p.m., when they will be ex­plor­ing the topic of friend­ships.

Leapfrog and Tadpole Preschool story time at the li­brary on Tues­day, Fe­bru­ary 28 from 11 am to 12 noon. Preschool story time cel­e­brates the joys of lan­guage and story through the use of mu­sic, pup­pets, pic­ture books, sto­ry­telling and more. a great op­por­tu­nity to ex­plore lit­er­acy with your preschooler.

Jazzer­cise classes are at the Delia School Gym on Mon­days and Wed­nes­days at 7 to 8 p.m., and Tues­days and Thurs­days at 9 a.m. at the Ma­son Hall. No classes Fe­bru­ary 6-14. Jazzer­cise classes around the world, in­clud­ing Jazzer­cise Delia, will be run­ning a Girl Force ini­tia­tive for 2017. They are invit­ing any girls age 16 to 21 to come to classes for all of 2017 for free! Their hope is that young women learn the ben­e­fits of phys­i­cal fit­ness from a young age which in turn can lead to build­ing healthy habits and self es­teem for a life­time.

Delia Li­brary Paint night is Thurs­day, Fe­bru­ary 16, when Laraine Hess, artist from the Cana­dian Bad­lands Artists As­so­ci­a­tion, will be at the li­brary help­ing par­tic­i­pants cre­ate their own can­vas. All sup­plies will be in­cluded in the cost. Please con­tact the li­brary for more in­for­ma­tion or to reg­is­ter.
