Tough weekend for Dragons
While t he Dr umheller Dragons sa w sig ns of life last week, they had a tough weekend playing one of the top teams in the country.
The Drumheller Dragons snapped the six game losing str eak la st Tuesday, F ebruary 7, b eating the Olds Grizzlys 3-1 on the road.
On Friday night they hosted the Brooks Bandits, has been holding on to the national top rank since January 30.
Brooks dominated from start to finish. In t he first period, the Bandits outshot the Dragons 226, although the game remained scoreless.
In the s econd p eriod t he onslaught b egan a s the Bandits scored six straight goals in t he first 14:21 of the second period. Blake Kleiner scored for the Dragons late in the second, but that was all they could get as the Bandits won 11-1.
On Saturday, February 11, the Dragons headed to Brooks hoping t o fare better, but it w asn’t in the cards as the Brooks Bandits won 6-0. W ith this, the B andits set a franchise re cord with its ninth shutout this season. The Dragons have a tough schedule down the stretch as they face the Calgary Canucks on Tuesday, February 14. Results were not available at press time and t hen on t he weekend they go back-to back with the Canmore Eagles in a home and away series. On Monday February 20, Family Day, they are back in Brooks to face the Bandits again.
The Drumheller Dragons were outscored 17-1 over two games versus the Brooks Bandits over the weekend.
