Morrin Community Calendar
Well, we made it through the coldest day of the year so far. Last week on Wednesday our outdoor thermometer dipped down to -43 in Morrin. I don’t mind the snow so much but that cold is nasty...not fit for man or beast! And now, as we are halfway through the month and I wonder how much more snow will come our way. Thanks to David Benci our village foreman who has been working hard to plow the streets. There is getting to be quite the mountain of snow in the arena parking lot and our new black lab Loni sure likes climbing to the top and running down, fast as she can, funny pup ha-ha.
And the 4H-ers are busy, busy, busy, with a bunch of activities coming up...so you may wish to mark a few things down. Last Wednesday, February 15, the group had a public-speaking night lined up for 6:30 p.m. at the Morrin School...ski-trip on Tuesday, February 21, and, the Multi-Club will also be hosting the District publicspeaking event at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, March the 4. They will also run a Food Drive on April 3, and the annual Recycle Drive on April 15. I will try to keep you posted on any other news they wish to pass on in the coming weeks.
Also, some curling news for the Rumsey area...there will be a mixed doubles 2 person spiel coming up February 23-25. Jackie Watts (403-820-5451) will be set- ting that up that fun event and will be assisting those who wish to play and a junior tournament is planned at the Rumsey Curling Rink for February 28. I hope I have the correct dates for that, if not, please let me know.
And also the annual “creative weekend” is coming up at the end of February 24 -26 and Marjorie Chapman will take calls at 403-7723814 if you wish to register for this time of crafting... space is limited in the lower room of the Morrin Arena, so book in soon.
And that is it for today. January was long but this month, lots of stuff happening...school was out last week...it is winter, it is white, it is slightly warmer and in my world, Bob and Charly are the best Valentines of all! Cheers!
