Dragons lose three over week­end

The Drumheller Dragons los­ing skid has e tended to si games after a busy long week­end.

The Dragons were on home ice last ri­day night ebru­ary 17, to take on the Can­more Ea­gles and came out strong lead­ing by two goals early in the first pe­riod; the first from Jor­dan Tau­pert at 4:2 and then Cody Young at 16:17. Just 24 sec­onds later, the Ea­gles got on the score­board to end the first pe­riod 2-1 Dragons.

In the sec­ond pe­riod, the Ea­gles rat­tled off three goals to take a com­mand­ing 4-2 lead go­ing into the third pe­riod.

Cody Young scored his sec­ond goal of the game 15 sec­onds into the third. Can­more an­swered back Must four min­utes later. Jor­dan Evans scored with five min­utes left, on the pow­er­play, and while the Dragons kept up the pres­sure, 5-4 was as close as they could get.

On atur­day, the Dragons headed to Can­more to face the Ea­gles for the sec­ond time in as many games. This time the Ea­gles went up 4-0 over the first two pe­ri­ods. Just 3:30 into the third pe­riod Young put the Dragons on the score­board Can­more an­swered back be­fore ndrew Kar­tusch made it 5-2. The Ea­gles rat­tled off two more be­fore Tau­pert scored with 5:37 left in the game. Can­more wins 7-3.

The week­end didn t end there, and on on­day, ebru­ary 20, the Dragons were in Brooks to take on the ever-strong Ban­dits. Chad Hur­tubise scored five min­utes into the sec­ond pe­riod and then Young scored short­handed at the 11:30 mark of the sec­ond pe­riod. How­ever, that s all the scor­ing the Dragons could muster. They were out­shot 57-14 as the Ban­dits went on to win 8-2.

This week­end the Dragons have a home and away se­ries ver­sus the Oko­toks Oil­ers, head­ing to Oko­toks on ri­day, ebru­ary 24 and then home atur­day.

The Dragons los­ing skid con­tin­ued over the long week­end fall­ing in two games to Can­more and then Brooks.
