Dragons lose three over weekend
The Drumheller Dragons losing skid has e tended to si games after a busy long weekend.
The Dragons were on home ice last riday night ebruary 17, to take on the Canmore Eagles and came out strong leading by two goals early in the first period; the first from Jordan Taupert at 4:2 and then Cody Young at 16:17. Just 24 seconds later, the Eagles got on the scoreboard to end the first period 2-1 Dragons.
In the second period, the Eagles rattled off three goals to take a commanding 4-2 lead going into the third period.
Cody Young scored his second goal of the game 15 seconds into the third. Canmore answered back Must four minutes later. Jordan Evans scored with five minutes left, on the powerplay, and while the Dragons kept up the pressure, 5-4 was as close as they could get.
On aturday, the Dragons headed to Canmore to face the Eagles for the second time in as many games. This time the Eagles went up 4-0 over the first two periods. Just 3:30 into the third period Young put the Dragons on the scoreboard Canmore answered back before ndrew Kartusch made it 5-2. The Eagles rattled off two more before Taupert scored with 5:37 left in the game. Canmore wins 7-3.
The weekend didn t end there, and on onday, ebruary 20, the Dragons were in Brooks to take on the ever-strong Bandits. Chad Hurtubise scored five minutes into the second period and then Young scored shorthanded at the 11:30 mark of the second period. However, that s all the scoring the Dragons could muster. They were outshot 57-14 as the Bandits went on to win 8-2.
This weekend the Dragons have a home and away series versus the Okotoks Oilers, heading to Okotoks on riday, ebruary 24 and then home aturday.
The Dragons losing skid continued over the long weekend falling in two games to Canmore and then Brooks.
