Rumsey & District Register

The Drumheller Mail - - AROUND TOWN - Patty Steen 403-368-3820

The Mixed Doubles will be starting this week with 30 teams of two heading to the ice surface to spin some rocks and score some points. There should be some good curling and, of course, good entertainment up in the lounge. Good luck to everyone. The Mixed Bonspiel will quickly follow on March 6-11 so call Jackie and Brooks to put a team in at 403-368-2357.

The 4-H Beef club held their public speaking this past Sunday with the young men and women of our community impressing the various judges and audience members. I know that when I was asked to judge recently at a different clubs’ Speak-Offs, I was so very impressed with the level of polish that those young teenagers had when doing their prepared and impromptus. I don’t think my kids ever sounded that good! The winners of the Junior category in Rumsey were Brady Mappin and Cadynce Richmond with first and second respectively. In the Intermediate section, Amanda Holowath was awarded first with Ryley Mappin claiming second. In Seniors, Vanessa Richmond received first and Brett Holowath earned second. In the Presentations category, Corbyn Stoneman secured first prize so now Corbyn and all the other top place competitors will go on to compete in Morrin at Regionals on March 4. All of our speakers did an excellent job with their speeches so good luck to the competitors who go on to the next level.

The High School Girls Curling team will be heading to Provincials at the end of this week in Lethbridge to compete. The games will start on Friday, March 3 and complete on Saturday, March 4. It will be an exciting time for Amanda Holowath, Shelby Primrose, Taylor Olmstead and Kayla Adams. Don’t let your nerves get to you and enjoy the experience. We are cheering for you!

Have a great week.
