Hello Hand Hills…A lit­tle bit of ev­ery­thing weather wise and that in­cludes Go­phers out on Fe­bru­ary 21. That seems re­ally early in my books. Had some Canada Geese fly over that same day so maybe all of Mother Na­ture’s crea­tures are telling us some­thing. Spring?

The Com­mu­nity sends con­do­lences to the Wiens and Len­festy Fam­ily on the Pass­ing of Robert Wiens. Rob­bie, as he was af­fec­tion­ately known, was a twin brother to Rosanna Len­festy and he was just a cou­ple months shy of turn­ing 80 years old. Con­do­lences to all the fam­i­lies com­ing from the Hills.

They came for the Steak and Lob­ster and stayed for the Ul­ti­mate Out­law Band. 150 peo­ple en­joy­ing a great even­ing out at the Valen­tine’s Func­tion at the Club. A top notch meal was served com­plete with lots of great ap­pe­tiz­ers, steak and lob­ster, choco­late cov­ered straw­ber­ries and the big­gest cream puffs that any­one had ever seen.. The Live Auc­tion had Dave Shields get­ting some good bids on the 15 items that were up for grabs. The wil­low chair made and do­nated by Mur­ray Johnston, of Hanna, was one of the top sellers of the night, go­ing to the John Rew House­hold. At 89 years young Mur­ray danced on the chair to show how sturdy it was. Thank you Mur­ray and Pat for your do­na­tion to this event. The Flames Tick­ets were an­other hot item and Shane Rau­gust is go­ing to the game! Thanks Shane! Thanks to Ed Fortna for the tick­ets. The His and Hers’ Carhartt Cov­er­alls, mod­eled by Kacey and Shaina Grif­fith, went home with Mike Al­berts. The Si­lent Auc­tion had some in­ter­est­ing items that kept peo­ple com­ing to check on their bids. The pick­led eggs and car­rots, do­nated by Vicki and Robin Beck, were a very hot item and they went home with one of the mem­bers of the Band. The band was from Red Deer and pro­vided good coun­try mu­sic. Mark Next year’s event on your cal­en­dar.

The Char­ity Sale is com­ing up on Fri­day, March 10 at 7 p.m. Do­na­tions of your bak­ing, new or un­wanted trea­sures are more than wel­come. This year the money raised will go to STARS and Kid­sport in Hanna and De-
