Hand Hills Grapevine
Hello Hand Hills…A little bit of everything weather wise and that includes Gophers out on February 21. That seems really early in my books. Had some Canada Geese fly over that same day so maybe all of Mother Nature’s creatures are telling us something. Spring?
The Community sends condolences to the Wiens and Lenfesty Family on the Passing of Robert Wiens. Robbie, as he was affectionately known, was a twin brother to Rosanna Lenfesty and he was just a couple months shy of turning 80 years old. Condolences to all the families coming from the Hills.
They came for the Steak and Lobster and stayed for the Ultimate Outlaw Band. 150 people enjoying a great evening out at the Valentine’s Function at the Club. A top notch meal was served complete with lots of great appetizers, steak and lobster, chocolate covered strawberries and the biggest cream puffs that anyone had ever seen.. The Live Auction had Dave Shields getting some good bids on the 15 items that were up for grabs. The willow chair made and donated by Murray Johnston, of Hanna, was one of the top sellers of the night, going to the John Rew Household. At 89 years young Murray danced on the chair to show how sturdy it was. Thank you Murray and Pat for your donation to this event. The Flames Tickets were another hot item and Shane Raugust is going to the game! Thanks Shane! Thanks to Ed Fortna for the tickets. The His and Hers’ Carhartt Coveralls, modeled by Kacey and Shaina Griffith, went home with Mike Alberts. The Silent Auction had some interesting items that kept people coming to check on their bids. The pickled eggs and carrots, donated by Vicki and Robin Beck, were a very hot item and they went home with one of the members of the Band. The band was from Red Deer and provided good country music. The Charity Sale is coming up on Friday, March 10 at 7 p.m. Donations of your baking, new or unwanted treasures are more than welcome. This year the money raised will go to STARS and Kidsport in Hanna and De-
