Calving season is fast approaching and the weather is doing its usual flip and flop as the temperature likes to bounce between the double digits on both sides of the zero. Good luck to all the ranchers in the area as their busy season gets started.
Our Morrin High School girls curling team succeeded! They have come home holding their heads high as they will once again hang a Provincial Banner in our home town rink! Well Done, Kayla Adams, Amanda Holowath, Taylor Olmstead and Shelby Primrose. What a great feeling it is to have worked hard with your coach Betty Primrose and have it all come together like that.
The Mixed bonspiel will be well underway as you read this column so don’t forget to head into town for a good homemade meal and some great curling as this will be the last one of the season and there are lots of teams entered. Tomorrow night, Thursday, will also be the last Oyster Night to take part in until next season so get in early for a delicious meal.
As I had mentioned in previous columns, at this years’ banquet, the Ag Society will be auctioning off the advertising boards and spots in the ice so if you have a business in mind that would enjoy free advertising for two years let them know to come and join us on Saturday night for a great meal and some fun bidding.
The Morrin Figure Skating Club is also getting very excited about their big day of celebration as they put the final touches on their performances for the Skating Carnival on March 12 starting at 2:00 p.m. at the Morrin Arena. Join them as they entertain you with all the new skills they have learned throughout the winter. It will be a great show.
On Saturday, March 25, the Morrin Ag Society is hosting a fundraiser with the Dueling Pianos. This is a great show with very talented musicians who can play any type of music you request. Along with the show, the Morrin Lions will be doing a silent auction to raise money for their many good causes so if you love good music and want to support a couple good organizations, this will be the place to go.
Have a great week.
