There are some clouds that seem to be threatening snow hovering about this morning. Yesterday the snow was melting, the sun was warm and the air was balmy. You never know what to expect with Alberta weather, but spring begins on March 20. Hang in there.
Deepest sympathy of the Delia Community goes out to the Marshall families on the passing of Nick Marshall in the Drumheller hospital last Friday. Services have not been announced at this time. Sincere condolences to all of Nick’s family and friends at this very sad time.
Remember the Delia Elks breakfast buffet at the Community Centre on Sunday, March 12, from nine until noon. This is the same day that Daylight Saving Time starts so be sure to “spring forward” the night before, or you will be late for breakfast.
The Endiang Floor Curling Club held a “hard times” fun bonspiel in Endiang on Monday, February 27. Curlers from Delia who participated were Dave and Carol Sisley, Charlie Thompson, Joan Morrison and Eva Nielsen. Teams from Halkirk, Castor, Stettler, Big Valley, Round Hill, Hanna, etc took part in the spiel. Joan Morrison from Delia won first place in the “hard times” costume event. Everyone came home with a prize and memories of a fun time. Thanks Endiang for the fun day and that wonderful Endiang hospitality that is unmatched anywhere!
Remember to get your tickets for the Richard and Deborah Popovich show at the Delia Drop In Centre on Wednesday, April 12, at 2 in the afternoon. The show features comedy and music from the 50, 60 and 70’s. Coffee and refreshments will follow the show. You can get your tickets from any member of the Centre.
The general meeting of the Drop In Centre is on Thursday, March 9 at 10 a.m. It’s coffee time every Tuesday and Thursday morning, starting at 9, at the Delia Drop In Centre. Come for coffee and a visit with your neighbors.
The Delia Library is hosting a First Nations, Inuit, and Metis Travelling Display in March at the library. This is a display created by the Marigold library system to help expose people from all cultures to First Nations, Inuit and Metis content. Be sure to stop by and have a look.
On March 8 the library is hosting an information, identity theft, and Law videoconference from 12 – 1 p.m. On March 15 from 12 to 1 p.m., a video concerning an Enduring Power of Attorney, A personal Directive, A Will, a Legal Toolkit Videoconference will lows: Senior Presentations Duncalf. Junior Presentations - Cole Alderdice. Senior Speaking - Carter Reed. Intermediate Speaking- 1st Tessa Reed, 2nd Camryn McDougald, 3rd Cole Morlock, 4th Delaney McDougald. Our members are busy haltering and getting their calves in shape for our clubs mini-show day at 3MC stock Farms on April 30. There is an upcoming District Judging Clinic being hosted by the Rumsey 4H Club details will follow.
On June 10 there will be a 4H 100 year Celebration in Rowley. Registration begins at 2 pm with the program beginning at 3 pm. More details to follow.
