The community would like to send condolences to Randy, Jamie, Niki (Chad), Ryleah, Josh, Dale, Jill, Cameron, Kyle, Murray, Daun, Cody and Cole Brown on the recent passing of Gordon Brown. Gord was always a social butterfly with the biggest heart; he will be missed by all.
There will be a shower committee meeting for Jessica Sage bride elect of Scott Douglass on March 15 at 7:00 p.m. at the Curling Club. If you can’t make the meeting but want to get on the committee, please talk to Leanne Muller.

Kevin, Barb, Erin and Jason Slemko spent February 20-27 in California. The first few days were spent in Mammoth Lakes downhill skiing. The region was experiencing record snowfall and had a severe winter storm warning on February 20 and the family had an unexpected overnight stay in Los Angeles as their flight was cancelled. They caught a flight early the next day and enjoyed three days of skiing on fresh powder. They then travelled to San Diego. Highlights from San Diego included the Zoo, Sea World, Belmont Park Amusement Park and visiting a retired aircraft carrier.
Congratulations to Shayla Sandum and Drew Tolman on their recent engagement. Family and friends are invited to a bridal shower for Shayla at the Dalum Community Hall on March 18 at 7pm.
Ross, Karen, Morgan and Laura Peake travelled to California on February 16 for a holiday. They stayed in San Francisco for 3 nights where the highlights were strolling on Pier 39, a tour of Alcatraz and also the world famous Lombard Street. The weather was cool and rainy but they still managed to enjoy their time. From there, they drove down the coast to Los Angeles where they enjoyed a Warner Brothers studio tour, Universal Studios and Knott’s Berry Farm.
Russell, Kristin, Brooke and Garrett Fandry spent a week in San Diego over teacher’s convention. They took in Seaworld, the San Diego Zoo - the pandas were defiantly the highlight, took a drive up the coast to Oceanside, toured the retired USS Midway aircraft carrier and toured through the city. The weather was cool and windy but still a good time.
The Hussar Sundowners will once again be having a “Pub Night” plus meeting on March 16. If you are a senior please come and enjoy – remembering your own “green” koolaid or whatever else you might like to drink.
The Hussar Sundowners will be sponsoring a fun evening April 7 at the Centre featuring The Good Timers. The evening will kick off with a pot-luck supper at 6:00 and entertainment at 7:00. All are welcome who want to have a “good time”. Last week I got the name wrong so if you noticed that you win a prize!!
Please remember if you have any old eye glasses (sun glasses, readers, prescription), the Lions have 3 collection boxes around town. The Lions collect them and then the glasses are refurbished and given to someone in need. They will even take broken glasses. If you have glasses that are broken with parts, put them in a Ziploc bag please.
A huge round of applause to all of the kids who performed at the Music Recital. It was such a good show listening to the singing, guitar playing and drumming. We have some very talented kids in and around Hussar. Thank you to Joe and Abbey Calvert for all their dedication. Good luck to Joe and Abbey Calvert as they launch a new adventure on the Carnival Cruise Entertainment team on the Carnival Freedom between March 4 and August 12.
Clarke VanHerweghe and family held a party for his oldest granddaughter Taryn Zest to celebrate her achievements of becoming a Doctor of Traditional Chinese Medicine- acupuncturist with a four year journey of hard work. She is already a message therapist and will be continuing to practice at the Mayfair Clinic in Calgary.
Tracy Anderson and Lisa Armstrong are doing the Kidney March 100 km again in September. As one of their fundraisers, they are selling raffle tickets. The prize is 2 tickets (all 18 draws) to the Humpty’s Championship Cup at COP from April 2530. The draw is March 25. Please contact one of the girls if you are interested in purchasing tickets!
The Hussar Library Board and Marigold Library staff met to welcome the installation of the new remote book locker at the Chinook Financial System. It is now available for all card holders to access. Courses on how to use it will be available soon. Also information is available at the locker, it is very easy to use, just follow the screen instructions. Cards are available for free. Just fill in the forms found at the machine and drop them in the return slot.
Keith, Janell, Evinn, Lyndsey, Mackenzie and Dustin along with Rob, Kim, Stephanie, Joe and Kai spent a fun filled week in Montego Bay, Jamaica. When they weren’t relaxing poolside or on the beach with a Bob Marley Slushie. They were enjoying a river tubing tour, shopping, sightseeing and a day at Margarittaville where they did water activities and had a wonderful meal. The great cricket conspiracy was never resolved.
