The com­mu­nity would like to send con­do­lences to Randy, Jamie, Niki (Chad), Ryleah, Josh, Dale, Jill, Cameron, Kyle, Mur­ray, Daun, Cody and Cole Brown on the re­cent pass­ing of Gor­don Brown. Gord was al­ways a so­cial but­ter­fly with the big­gest heart; he will be missed by all.

There will be a shower com­mit­tee meet­ing for Jes­sica Sage bride elect of Scott Dou­glass on March 15 at 7:00 p.m. at the Curl­ing Club. If you can’t make the meet­ing but want to get on the com­mit­tee, please talk to Leanne Muller.

If you aren’t busy on the evening of March 18, please come join us for sup­per and a dance at the Hussar Com­mu­nity Hall! It is 50’s themed and we strongly en­cour­age every­one to dress up! Check the ad on page 2 of this pa­per for de­tails.

A big thank you to every­one who worked the Wheat­land Cross­ing school casino at the end of last week.

April 23 is the Hussar Com­mu­nity Meet­ing at 7:30 p.m. at the hall. Please send your pres­i­dent, trea­surer and casino co­or­di­na­tor of your groups to re­port your fi­nan­cial sta­tus and plans!

If you are start­ing your spring clean­ing early, please re­mem­ber that the Hussar Playschool will be or­ga­niz­ing the Garage Sale at Hussar Daze this year.

Kevin, Barb, Erin and Ja­son Slemko spent Fe­bru­ary 20-27 in Cal­i­for­nia. The first few days were spent in Mam­moth Lakes down­hill ski­ing. The re­gion was ex­pe­ri­enc­ing record snow­fall and had a se­vere win­ter storm warn­ing on Fe­bru­ary 20 and the fam­ily had an un­ex­pected overnight stay in Los Angeles as their flight was can­celled. They caught a flight early the next day and en­joyed three days of ski­ing on fresh pow­der. They then trav­elled to San Diego. High­lights from San Diego in­cluded the Zoo, Sea World, Bel­mont Park Amuse­ment Park and vis­it­ing a re­tired air­craft car­rier.

Con­grat­u­la­tions to Shayla San­dum and Drew Tol­man on their re­cent en­gage­ment. Fam­ily and friends are in­vited to a bridal shower for Shayla at the Dalum Com­mu­nity Hall on March 18 at 7pm.

Ross, Karen, Mor­gan and Laura Peake trav­elled to Cal­i­for­nia on Fe­bru­ary 16 for a hol­i­day. They stayed in San Fran­cisco for 3 nights where the high­lights were strolling on Pier 39, a tour of Al­ca­traz and also the world fa­mous Lom­bard Street. The weather was cool and rainy but they still man­aged to en­joy their time. From there, they drove down the coast to Los Angeles where they en­joyed a Warner Broth­ers stu­dio tour, Uni­ver­sal Stu­dios and Knott’s Berry Farm.

Rus­sell, Kristin, Brooke and Gar­rett Fandry spent a week in San Diego over teacher’s con­ven­tion. They took in Seaworld, the San Diego Zoo - the pan­das were de­fi­antly the high­light, took a drive up the coast to Ocean­side, toured the re­tired USS Mid­way air­craft car­rier and toured through the city. The weather was cool and windy but still a good time.

The Hussar Sun­down­ers will once again be hav­ing a “Pub Night” plus meet­ing on March 16. If you are a se­nior please come and en­joy – re­mem­ber­ing your own “green” koolaid or what­ever else you might like to drink.

The Hussar Sun­down­ers will be spon­sor­ing a fun evening April 7 at the Cen­tre fea­tur­ing The Good Timers. The evening will kick off with a pot-luck sup­per at 6:00 and en­ter­tain­ment at 7:00. All are wel­come who want to have a “good time”. Last week I got the name wrong so if you no­ticed that you win a prize!!

Please re­mem­ber if you have any old eye glasses (sun glasses, read­ers, pre­scrip­tion), the Lions have 3 col­lec­tion boxes around town. The Lions col­lect them and then the glasses are re­fur­bished and given to some­one in need. They will even take bro­ken glasses. If you have glasses that are bro­ken with parts, put them in a Zi­ploc bag please.

A huge round of ap­plause to all of the kids who per­formed at the Mu­sic Recital. It was such a good show lis­ten­ing to the singing, gui­tar play­ing and drum­ming. We have some very tal­ented kids in and around Hussar. Thank you to Joe and Abbey Calvert for all their ded­i­ca­tion. Good luck to Joe and Abbey Calvert as they launch a new ad­ven­ture on the Car­ni­val Cruise En­ter­tain­ment team on the Car­ni­val Free­dom be­tween March 4 and Au­gust 12.

Clarke VanHer­weghe and fam­ily held a party for his old­est grand­daugh­ter Taryn Zest to cel­e­brate her achieve­ments of be­com­ing a Doc­tor of Tra­di­tional Chi­nese Medicine- acupunc­tur­ist with a four year jour­ney of hard work. She is al­ready a mes­sage therapist and will be con­tin­u­ing to prac­tice at the May­fair Clinic in Cal­gary.

Tracy An­der­son and Lisa Arm­strong are do­ing the Kid­ney March 100 km again in Septem­ber. As one of their fundraisers, they are sell­ing raf­fle tick­ets. The prize is 2 tick­ets (all 18 draws) to the Humpty’s Cham­pi­onship Cup at COP from April 2530. The draw is March 25. Please con­tact one of the girls if you are in­ter­ested in pur­chas­ing tick­ets!

The Hussar Li­brary Board and Marigold Li­brary staff met to wel­come the in­stal­la­tion of the new re­mote book locker at the Chi­nook Fi­nan­cial Sys­tem. It is now avail­able for all card hold­ers to ac­cess. Cour­ses on how to use it will be avail­able soon. Also in­for­ma­tion is avail­able at the locker, it is very easy to use, just fol­low the screen in­struc­tions. Cards are avail­able for free. Just fill in the forms found at the ma­chine and drop them in the re­turn slot.

Keith, Janell, Evinn, Lyn­d­sey, Mackenzie and Dustin along with Rob, Kim, Stephanie, Joe and Kai spent a fun filled week in Mon­tego Bay, Ja­maica. When they weren’t re­lax­ing pool­side or on the beach with a Bob Mar­ley Slushie. They were en­joy­ing a river tub­ing tour, shop­ping, sight­see­ing and a day at Mar­garit­taville where they did water ac­tiv­i­ties and had a won­der­ful meal. The great cricket con­spir­acy was never re­solved.
