Morrin Community Calendar
So...it was a pretty, cold, snowy, “spring-ahead” Sunday in Morrin, and Saturday for that matter as well. Don’t put your snow shovels away yet folks. Thanks to neighbor Rod who fired up his snow-blower machine and cleared off our sidewalks a few times over the weekend...so much appreciated. I noticed even our public works foreman David Benci tried to stay ahead of the relentless flurries and spent some time plowing the village roads on Saturday...probably not the way you wanted to spend part of your weekend and day off but thanks Dave! March has definitely come in like a lion so hopefully it will be going out like a lamb as the old saying goes.
And the Morrin Arena Sportsplex was a flurry of activity this past Sunday as the Morrin Figure Skating Club members were pumped to perform the yearend Carnival “Dance Party”! A lot of these kids have been skating for a number of years and they sure have come a long way. Thanks to the club for all the hours of preparation throughout the season, and for putting on another great show and also to parents, friends, helpers and community for all the cheering and support.
And as has been the custom, following Carnival, there will be free cookies and hot chocolate on hand during public skating this Sunday, March 19 from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. compliments of the Morrin Lions. The Lions are a generous group as they frequently put on events, make a lot of donations and just do nice things...they recently gave a little money to the Morrin Library to go toward putting together a new first aid kit. And as this year marks 25 years for the Morrin Lions, they are planning to host a party at the Morrin Community Hall on Saturday, April 8 at 7:30 p.m. with live music, snacks and fun for all and tickets are available at the Mountain View Credit Union.
Also on Tuesday, March 21 at 7:00 p.m. the Morrin Community Hall Association will hold their annual general meeting and everyone from the community is welcome and encouraged to attend.
And, would like to put in another plug for the new Archery Club in Morrin...Badlands Bucks and Bows. Melanie Monaco is posting info on the Morrin Corner and Area page if you want to give her a call or check it out. The range is renovated, rolling and ready for practice Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 7:00 – 10:00 p.m. in the old curling rink at the Morrin Arena Sportsplex.
And lastly, I guess the next big thing coming up and really quick...the Drumheller Music/ Arts Festival and wishing all the best to all the participants and instructors. And, in a month’s time...Easter celebrations! Cheers!
