There was a lot of excitement on Sunday with the river backed up and rising. The large blocks of ice along the river banks are really quite amazing. I wonder how long it will take some of them to melt.

This Friday, March 24, Starland County is hosting a session on Negotiating Renewable Energy Leases at the Munson Community Hall. For more information contact Dara at 403-772-3793.
Starland County is also hosting a Gardening Workshop and Tradeshow on April 8 at the Munson Hall. Speakers include Donna Balzer co-host of HGTVs Bugs and Blooms, and CBC Radio Host and Calgary Herald gardening columnist; and Dr. Ken Fry coordinator for Horticulture Entomology instructor at Olds College, co-author of “Garden Bugs of Alberta”. Topics include: disease and pest management and shelterbelt tree placement. There will be a hands-on activity: grow your own mushrooms. The event starts at 8:00 am – 9:00 am with a trade show, 9:30-3:30 is the workshop. Tickets are $25 and lunch is included. To register please call Starland County at 403-772-3793.
Don’t forget about The Morrin Lions’ 25 year celebration on Saturday, April 8 at 7:30. There will be displays, music by “The Great Plains” and some treats. Tickets are available from the Lions members and at Mountain View Credit Union.

March seems like an extra-long month with no long weekends to break it up. I guess that means we should be able to get a lot done before spring really hits.
