Marci Hira is host­ing Paint Nite #2 in Stan­dard at the Stan­dard Mu­nic­i­pal Li­brary on Thurs­day, March 30, from 7 – 10 pm. You will also learn about an amaz­ing Cana­dian com­pany that is ded­i­cated to­wards chang­ing what’s on your plate. All sup­plies in­cluded. Feet are the foun­da­tion of our lives. As we age our feet get abused with nat­u­ral wear and tear and are of­ten neglected. The el­derly may suf­fer from painful foot joints and un­usual dry­ness with brit­tle nails. Reg­u­lar and proper care can pre­vent in­fec­tions and other foot dis­com­forts such as cal­luses and sores, which can lead to se­ri­ous mo­bil­ity is­sues. Foot Care clin­ics are of­fered at the Stan­dard Se­nior’s cen­ter ev­ery 6 weeks. The next one will be on Thurs­day, March 23. For more in­for­ma­tion please con­tact Donna at 403 644 3849.

Come “Dancin Through the Decades”! The Lionettes an­nual Ladies Night Out is Satur­day, April 8. There will be raf­fle prizes, silent & live auc­tion, and ex­tra spe­cial door prizes, just be­cause you are fabulous! En­ter­tain­ment will be pro­vided by, Mary Ann San­terre-Ox­toby. Tick­ets are on sale un­til April 1. “Not Your Stan­dard Mar­ket” A Mother’s Day Cel­e­bra- tion on Satur­day, April 29, from 10 am – 5 pm, at the Stan­dard Com­mu­nity Hall. There will be a kid’s cor­ral, food truck, hand­made goods, art, and fur­ni­ture. Nazareth Lutheran Church is host­ing a spe­cial work­shop on “Death and Dy­ing” on Sun­day, April 23 at 11:30 am. The fo­cus of the work­shop is to pre­pare you for your end of life, in­clud­ing in­valu­able in­for­ma­tion and ad­vice from, Wheat­land Fu­neral Home, Wheat­land Vic­tim Ser­vices, John Getz, Getz & As­so­ci­ates, Dr. Joni McNeally, and Wheat­land Hospice So­ci­ety. There is no cost for the work­shop, and lunch will be pro­vided. As al­ways you are most wel­come to wor­ship with the con­gre­ga­tion at 10:30 am.

A friendly re­minder that can­vass­ing is get­ting un­der­way for the 2017 Com­mu­nity Chest, a reg­is­tered so­ci­ety with the Prov­ince of Al­berta. A di­rec­tor will be call­ing for your con­tri­bu­tion dur­ing the months of March and April, and a tax re­ceipt will be is­sued. This year’s goal is to raise $25,000. When con­tribut­ing, you are wel­come to choose any or­ga­ni­za­tion on the list your Di­rec­tor will pro­vide you with, or, you can pro­vide the name of any or­ga­ni­za­tion you would like to do­nate to. Many choose the Com­mu­nity Chest to make their an­nual do­na­tions to the causes that they hold dear to their heart. Your Com­mu­nity Chest dol­lars stay as close to the lo­cal com­mu­nity as is pos­si­ble. One cause to con­sider is the Stan­dard Tem­po­rary Aid Fund, avail­able con­fi­den­tially to Com­mu­nity Mem­bers who are strug­gling due to ex­treme fi­nan­cial and/or health is­sues. Thank you for your con­tin­ued sup­port of the Com­mu­nity Chest!

“Kidz Can Cook” at the Stan­dard Mu­nic­i­pal Li­brary on Wed­nes­day, March 29 at 3:30 pm. This month’s menu will in­clude taco let­tuce wraps, ap­ple juice and an an­i­mated book. To par­tic­i­pate a con­sent form must be handed in prior to the event, regis­tra­tion is re­quired, and kids six years & younger must be ac­com­pa­nied by an adult. All pro­grams of­fered at the Li­brary are free, mem­ber­ship not re­quired, but as al­ways, en­cour­aged.
