Con­grat­u­la­tions to the Rock­y­ford Rough­necks Pee­Wee hockey team who won the gold medal at their home tour­na­ment this past week­end. Good job ev­ery­one.

The Rock­y­ford Open C ladies Ringette team will be host­ing Provin­cials March 24-26. They have two lo­cal teams com­pet­ing (Rush, along with the Rock­y­ford Ringers). Come sup­port your home­town ladies. A raf­fle table and 50/50 board will also be set up on Fri­day and Satur­day, check it out and maybe win your­self a prize.

Birth­day greet­ings to those of you cel­e­brat­ing this week are sent to; Chris Ger­rit­sen, Al­lan Munchrath, Stephen Rop­pel, Corneal Bakker, Jac­que­line Ken­ney and a Happy 18th to Will Kathol on March 25. Happy An­niver­sary to; Dale and Linda Dahm and to any­one else cel­e­brat­ing a spe­cial oc­ca­sion this week.

Con­grat­u­la­tions from the com­mu­nity is sent to Brit­tany Weg­ner and Cole Kaiser on their en­gage­ment on March 10.

The first of three in­tro­duc­tory face­book lessons is on March 22, from 3 un­til 5. Feel free to bring your own lap­top or use one of the class ones. Cre­ate your own face­book ac­count and pro­file, learn how to log in/out and nav­i­gate the screen, add a cover photo to your time­line, add friends, and briefly ex­plore the news­feed. The next two ses­sions will: help you build your friends list and be­come more com­fort­able with the news­feed (March 28); learn to pro­tect your pri­vacy and max­i­mize on­line se­cu­rity when us­ing face­book (March 29).

Thank you to ev­ery­one who con­trib­uted art to our dis­play of lo­cal artists and ar­ti­sans. Such tal­ent! Please feel free to pick up your item from the li­brary at any time dur­ing oper­at­ing hours (Tues­day, noon to 6; Wed­nes­day/Thurs­day, 2 to 8).

Reg­is­ter your child for a fun and cre­ative day camp dur­ing the Easter break at the Rock­y­ford Li­brary. The pro­gram will run Tues­day through Fri­day, April 18 through 21, from 10 un­til 3. Chil­dren be­tween the ages of 6 and 12 (or older) are wel­come.

Kids Can Paint! at the Rock­y­ford Li­brary on Satur­day, April 1 (10:00 to noon). For a regis­tra­tion fee, as­pir­ing artists aged 7+ will be guided in cre­at­ing their own acrylic mas­ter­piece. Space is lim­ited. The group will be paint­ing a cat face. A sam­ple of the project is avail­able for view­ing at the li­brary, or you can visit us on face­book or our web­site (rock­y­fordli­brary.ca).

Join us at the li­brary for the first of three free video-con­fer­ences on Wed­nes­day, March 22, be­gin­ning at 6:00 p.m. about writ­ing fic­tion (par­tic­u­larly his­tor­i­cal fic­tion) with au­thor Si­mon Rose. His­tor­i­cal fic­tion com­bines the events of the past with char­ac­ters and sto­ries from each writer’s imag­i­na­tion. This pro­gram con­tin­ues on April 19 and May 31.

McBride Ca­reer Group is com­ing to the Rock­y­ford Li­brary for a Ca­reer Café on Tues­day, April 4, 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Are you look­ing for work? Re­search­ing fu­ture op­por­tu­ni­ties? Drop in for a visit. Re­fresh­ments will be pro­vided.

Join us at the li­brary for Paint Night in the Vil­lage on Thurs­day evening, April 6. Regis­tra­tion cov­ers all costs of the ses­sion. You just have to show up! Space is lim­ited so please pre-reg­is­ter.
