The Drumheller RCMP are warning residents not to put themselves in harm’s way when crime strikes.

This comes after an investigation into the theft of a motor vehicle last Tuesday night near Carbon.

On March 21 at 10 p.m., the Drumheller RCMP received a call of a stolen 2013 Ford F250 truck from a residence in Carbon. The owner of the truck witnessed the theft and attempted to stop the suspect by using another vehicle. The suspect rammed the stolen truck into the vehicle the owner was driving and then fled.

The abandoned stolen truck was found in the ditch just outside the town of Carbon. The suspect is believed to have been picked up by another vehicle and escaped the area.

There were no reported injuries, and the investigation is continuing

The RCMP is cautioning people if they decide to intervene with a property crime such as this. Criminals can be very unpredictable and can quickly escalate to violence, putting the public at risk of harm.

If anyone has information regarding this incident or any other crime please contact the Drumheller RCMP @ (403)-823-7590. Anonymous tips can also be provided through Crimestoppers.
