Grade six students at St. Anthony’s hosted the Christ the Redeemer divisional basketball tournament on March 23, 2017.

The tournament invited four schools from the division including Brooks, Oyen, Strathmore, and Drumheller.

The grade six boys competed in Strathmore while the girls remained on home turf.

“It benefits the students to have this tournament at a younger age because it works as a way for them to build their skills and competence in basketball while still having a chance to in- teract with other grade six students from around our school division,” said Gail Smith, grade six teacher at St. Anthony’s school.

Smith explained that the students had won the sportsmanship banner which will be hung in the school gym later in the year.

“We are optimistic this tournament will happen again in future years as it is a great opportunity for our students,” said Smith.
