If the old saying April showers bring May flowers we should have a very bright month of May with all sorts of blooms. The fog and rain is getting to be too much of a good thing I think.

Birthday greetings for April go to : Nathan Bell 7, Joan McGhee 8, Sheri Mueller and Judy Borwick 10, Tatum Mueller 21, Ken Huxley 23, Myrtle Stanger 28.

Anniversary greetings go to: Jim and Eileen Stanger 2.

Mark your calendars for April 19 for the Orkney Athletic Annual meeting with a pot luck supper at 6:00 pm so bring your appetite as well as something for the meal. See you there.

It’s membership dues time also and that means don’t forget your money or your cheque book.

Last week my daughter Laurie Keichinger and Ken came from Lamont for a short visit, took me out for brunch and then Laurie took my PT Cruiser home as I am not driving it anymore. It gives her reliable wheels to get to work. I’m driving my 1984 Chev Caprice so I’m still mobile.

If you are driving to Orkney or coming from, be aware there is a gathering of 5 moose at the bottom of the hill. That’s something you don’t want to hit.

Last Saturday I was invited to a tea at Continuing Care with Elaine (Mueller) Moses as hostess. This was a private tea party that I understand happens once a month. What a thoughtful thing to do. Thank you Elaine for the invite.

The Flames have been on a yo-yo ride this last while it seems. They had better get things organized soon and learn to play their game, not get caught playing catch up. Nice to see Edmonton get to the finals for the first time in many years.

Here’s something to think on: Joe Girard said “The elevator to success is out of order. You’ll have to take the stairs... one step at a time.”

Have a good week and enjoy the sunshine and warm weather.
