Four­teen ladies from Hussar and area trav­elled to Drumheller to the Sun­shine Lodge to visit with Annabelle Arm­strong. They had planned on go­ing on her birth­day but a storm came up and they had to resched­ule. A nice af­ter­noon of vis­it­ing with her and other res­i­dents was en­joyed and they were en­ter­tained by Mar­cel with his gui­tar and singing.

Tim, Val and Jackie San­dum trav­elled to Mon­treal March 17 - 21 to visit with Nathan who is at­tend­ing univer­sity there. They also en­joyed look­ing around McGill and the city of Mon­treal.

Sym­pa­thy of the com­mu­nity goes out to Judy and Lad Cur­rie and the rest of the Arm­strong fam­ily on the pass­ing of her mother Muriel Arm­strong on March 29. Her funeral was held in Cal­gary, on March 31. Muriel and her late hus­band, Jack, spent many, many years in the Hussar area and raised their fam­ily here.

Tracy An­der­son and Lisa Arm­strong would like to thank ev­ery­one who bought tick­ets on their curl­ing tick­ets raf­fle. The win­ner was Cam Hol­loway, a teacher at Wheat­land Cross­ing. This was the first fundraiser for them as a new way to raise money for Kid­ney March 2017. They would also like to wel­come Kim Larsen to the March! Tracy and Lisa are re­ally ex­cited to have you Kim!

Con­grat­u­la­tions to Bri­anne Hager and Pa­trick Cor­ri­gan who were mar­ried at Our Saviours Lutheran Church in Hussar, on Sun­day, March 26. In lieu of a bridal shower for Bri­anne there is a list at Chi­nook Fi­nan­cial where you can do­nate to­wards a gift to this young cou­ple.

Casey, Pam, Dayne and Kali en­joyed a 9 day trip to Florida! They spent their time go­ing to Uni­ver­sal, An­i­mal King­dom, Dis­cov­ery Cove, the Blue Jays Spring Train­ing game, Le­goland, Ga­tor­land, Me­dieval Feast, mini golf­ing and swim­ming at the re­sort. High­lights were swim­ming with the Dol­phins, watch­ing Ga­tor Wrestling and the Sa­fari!

The Bas­sano Out­laws Pee­wee Team cel­e­brated their hockey sea­son with their windup in Hussar hav­ing a Kids Vs Par­ents/Sib­lings Game. Af­ter the game, they en­joyed a potluck sup­per and vis­it­ing. Pre­sen­ta­tions were made to coaches, man­ager and kids. Thanks to ev­ery­one who helped make this hockey sea­son such an en­joy­able one.

Ben and Terry Arm­strong en­joyed 4 days away in Moose Jaw for their 48th wed­ding an­niver­sary. They had great weather and en­joyed their re­lax­ing get away.

The Fine Arts So­ci­ety is sell­ing Stawnichy Beef Jerky as a year end fundraiser. If you are in­ter­ested in or­der­ing any beef jerky or sausage rings ask a Fine Arts Mem­ber. All orders are due April 7.

Lorne Con­ley had a visit from Rick and Jean­nine and Cliff and Muggs Cas­son, broth­ers-in law and their wives, from Leth­bridge area on Thurs­day, March 30.

Tom and Stacey and Don and Kay Fraser trav­elled to Fort McMur­ray March 31 - April 2 to watch Shane play hockey. They won one and lost one.

Wendell and Jodi trav­elled to Den­ver March 31 to watch Tyson Jost play his NHL de­but game. Tyson’s Mom is Jodi’s first cousin, how­ever they have been more like sis­ters through­out life! Laura was even one of Jodi’s brides­maids 25 years ago Tues­day! Tyson had an in­cred­i­ble game and by the 2nd pe­riod he looked like he had played in that league for­ever! The game went into over­time and then a shootout. Tyson was given the op­por­tu­nity to be 2nd shooter. Al­though he missed his shot, his other team­mates did not and the Avalanches won! First time in 10 games. The team hopes Tyson will be the new blood that is des­per­ately needed to get this team out of their slump. Wendell and Jodi and the rest of their fam­ily are so proud of Tyson for they have seen his hard work, ded­i­ca­tion and true love of the game be re­warded by him re­al­iz­ing this dream of play­ing in the NHL. Watch for #27 on the Colorado Avalanche! He will do great things!

The WAA Midget team com­peted in provin­cials in Oko­toks the week­end of March 30 - April 2. The Chiefs fin­ished in 1st place in the round robin guar­an­tee­ing them a spot vs St. Al­bert in the gold medal game. They played St. Al­bert in the round robin ty­ing them 0-0. The Chiefs started off strong with 5 goals in the first. The fi­nal score was 8-4. This is the first time ever in 25 years that the WAA has won a pro­vin­cial ti­tle. Very proud par­ents and kids. Con­grat­u­la­tions to Wacy San­dum who is a part of this team.

Con­grat­u­la­tions to the Strath­more Storm Midget A Team (Cort Arm­strong and Bailey Filko­hazy) for win­ning The Yel­nats Cup Midget Hockey Tour­na­ment in Cochrane this past week­end. They played in the Tier 1 di­vi­sion of the tour­na­ment. They are ready for a much needed break from hockey! They played 11 games in the last 10 days! En­joy your rest boys and Con­grat­u­la­tions again...what a great way to end the sea­son!

Wheat­land Cross­ing School Ele­men­tary stu­dents have en­joyed swim­ming lessons, some stu­dents are fin­ished and the rest will fin­ish this week. On March 31 the school also hosted a tal­ent show “Wheat­land Cross­ing’s Got Tal­ent.” A great night was had by all that at­tended and were en­ter­tained by the tal­ent of the grades 1 – 12 stu­dents. This night was also a fundraiser for the grad class who held a bake sale. Up­com­ing events for the school are April 13 is Jersey Day and Easter Break is the 14 – 23.

There was quite a few ladies that made their way to Bas­sano on April 1, for the Women’s Well­ness Day. Con­grat­u­la­tions to Lois Thomp­son and her ta­ble, who were the spe­cial VIPs for the day. The day was filled with lots of laugh­ter and lis­ten­ing to three dif­fer­ent key notes speak­ers with amaz­ing mes­sages of mo­ti­va­tion.

Friends, fam­ily and neigh­bors are all in­vited to help Clif­ford San­den cel­e­brate his 100th Birth­day! The party will be held on April 9 at the Trav­elodge in Strath­more from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. In lieu of gifts please con­sider mak­ing a dona­tion to kids’ can­cer.

Niels Larsen will also be cel­e­brat­ing a spe­cial birth­day on April 9, please help him cel­e­brate his 80th Birth­day at the Hussar Sun­down­ers from 2:00 – 5:00 pm. There will be snacks and re­fresh­ments.

New Be­gin­nings will be host­ing Zumba nights April 12 and May 10. Drum fit will be April 26. There will be a fee for the Zumba nights and also for the Drum fit night, New Be­gin­nings is lo­cated at the Com­mu­nity Hall. We will have walk­ing nights April 5, May 3, 17, 24, 31. The walk­ing nights are sub­ject to change. Ev­ery­one wel­come to join us.

The an­nual com­mu­nity meet­ing is on April 23, at 7:30 pm at the Com­mu­nity Hall. This is a great way that the com­mu­nity can work to­gether for fu­ture plans or on­go­ing projects. If you have any ques­tions you can con­tact Kathy Dun­das.
