The Drumheller Mail - - NEWS - Marilyn Vredegoor 403-665-2473

Hello Hand Hills….The grass is growing, the trees are budding out, the crocuses are out and gophers are everywhere. Spring is here. Hoping for those April Showers that are forecast. But along with this comes yard work and field work. Get out and enjoy

Congratulations to Cam and Monica Nelner on becoming first time parents to a beautiful little girl, Adelyn Paige, who was born on March 26. Enjoying this special little bundle is Grandma Lyla and Grandpa Larry. I am sure that Auntie Tracy has cuddled this little one more than once! Congratulations to All!

There is a 90 Birthday Party for Bert Radke as she turns this huge milestone. The Family is planning a Drop in Coffee Party for her on April 23 from 1-4 at the Hanna Senior’s Circle. Bert would love to see all of her Hand Hills Friends and Neighbors and it would be a great chance to catch up with her family. See you there.

It must be Spring as the Calgary Stampede held their Annual Chuckwagon Tarp Sale. Colt will be going to the Stampede with the High River Autoplex and RV Tarp. He has been associated with Doug, from High River, for many years. Go Colt Go! I am sure that Spring Training has started at the Cosgrave Ranch.

It is ready! You can buy yours now! It is the photo book that was made of the 100th Stampede. Ward Rosin, who has been coming to the Stampede for years and has deep ties to the Hills and his friend Mark Reierson, attending his first ever rodeo, came to the 100th Stampede with the sole intention of taking photos for three days and then compiling them into a book. Task completed! Their book Between Dust and Sky is printed and ready for sale. Go to their website www.rosin.ca and order yours! If you do they will deliver it to the Stampede for you. Another piece of Hand Hills History! Thanks Ward and Mark!

Condolences to Hugh McDonald and Family on the passing of his sister Joyce Hoffman, of Oyen. I attended the funeral and one of Hugh’s nieces’, Bev Waters, and I went to school together. It was great to see the whole family there to pay tribute to this great lady. Hugh was there with his daughter and son. Nice to see you neighbor! The musical talent in the family was a real nice feature at the funeral. Joyce would have been tapping her toes! Sheila Fee, who is also one of Hugh’s sisters, told me that she and her husband lived in Craigmyle for many years. Shelia wanted to say Hi to all of her former friends and neighbors. It is a small world. It gets even smaller when Bev and Trevor said that their Son Brendan has played at the Stampede Cabarets with Drew Gregory. I heard Brendan sing and play the guitar at the funeral and this guy has talent. Look me up if you ever come back to the Hills Brendan!

The Club has new flooring in the kitchen and the new addition. Tiles are being put on the walls of the kitchen, so things are happening. If you can help, even for a couple of hours, please phone. We really want to wrap things up.

Stampede is coming fast so mark it on your calendar, June 2, 3 and 4. Volunteers are always needed!

Till next week….Get out and enjoy the good old sunshine!
